  • Triple Secan orange liquor.
  • Agave Syrup

Cocktail Equipment

  • This cocktail is shaken, but don’t worry if you don’t have a cocktail shaker!
  • Use a container with a tight-fitting lid—like a mason jar or the cup on a blender or smoothie maker.
  • A Muddling Tool is used to lightly mash (or muddle) the lime and cucumber in the bottom of the glass to release their juice and fragrance. The end of a wooden spoon also works for this step.
  • Margarita Glasses are a classic choice, but a highball glass works just as well for this coconut cucumber margarita recipe
  • To add a salted rim to the rim of the glass, a Rimming Dish is a handy piece of equipment—especially if you make a lot of margaritas! A small plate will do the job for the more casual mixologist.

If you enjoy margs, you’re going to love making our Unique Margarita Recipes:

Recipe Tips

  • Make sure your coconut water is well chilled for a more refreshing cocktail.
  • Use fresh lime juice for a vibrant citrus flavor.

Cucumber Coconut Margarita Variations

Here are some variations of the original cocktail recipe you might like to try.

  • Make a spicy cucumber coconut water margarita by muddling jalapeño pepper slices in the cocktail shaker. You could also add Tajin to the wet rim of a cocktail glass.
  • If you love spicy cocktails, why not try Chipotle Tequila instead of silver tequila.

Virgin Cucumber Coconut Margarita Mocktail (Non-Alcoholic)

So that non-drinkers can enjoy a cucumber coconut margarita, we simply remove the alcohol and replace it.

Follow the recipe card using the non-alcoholic alternatives listed below instead of the alcoholic ones.

  • Replace the Tequila with Citrus-Infused Sparkling Water
  • Replace the Orange Liqueur with Orange Syrup

I recommend adding the syrups to your taste as they may add the sweetness you may not necessarily get from alcoholic liqueurs.

Cucumber Coconut Mockarita with Non-Alcoholic Spirits

For adults who would still like to enjoy the taste of alcohol in their mocktail, you could try non-alcoholic alternatives.

In the UK, try Lyre’s, which is also available on Amazon in the UK and Amazon.com.

Other brands include Strykk (UK) and Ritual (US & Canada). Non-alcoholic spirits are a growing trend, so be on the lookout in your local stores and online.

Follow the recipe card using the non-alcoholic alternatives listed above instead of the alcoholic ones.

Frozen Cucumber Coconut Margaritas

Want even more coolness from this margarita? Turn it into a frozen slushie!

Put all the ingredients in a blender with a generous amount of ice – then blend till smooth.

Serve with a straw, and watch out for brain freeze!

You can do the same with the mocktail version too.

Big Batches of Cucumber Coconut Margaritas

If you want to make a large amount of these margaritas, the easiest way is to multiply the ingredients on the recipe card.

The recipe makes 2 cocktails, so for 6 drinks, multiply the recipe by 3; for 12 drinks, multiply the recipe by 6.

Muddle the quantity of lime and cucumber slices in a bowl or measuring cup before adding them to your serving container—a drinks dispenser or pitcher.

Add the liquid ingredients, chopped mint, and toasted coconut, and give the mixture a good stir.

Add plenty of ice to your serving container to keep the cocktail chilled. Add some slices of cucumber and lime in there too.

Saving Leftovers

While it’s best to enjoy the cocktail fresh to savor its flavors, you may have some left at the end of your party—don’t let it go to waste!

  • Transfer it to an airtight pitcher or container in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
  • Or, to make it last longer, turn it into a Cucumber Coconut Margarita Granita!
  • Granita is a semi-frozen dessert made from sugar, water, and various flavorings. Originally from Sicily.
  • Transfer the cocktail to a shallow freezer-safe container and place it in the freezer for 6 hours (or overnight). You can add some simple syrup or another sweetener if desired.
  • Use a fork to break the frozen cocktail into small pieces. Serve and enjoy!
  • Or pour the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze.
  • Use the cocktail cubes to chill and flavor future cocktails without diluting the drink.
