Quick & Easy Ideas
*Now of course, if you don’t want to/can’t be bothered to make from scratch, there are so many ready-made options to make the football fans in your house happy! Here are some final ideas for you:
- Country Platters: Arrange a selection of meats, cheeses, crackers, and other savory morsels based on the countries playing in the match on a large plate or platter. Aldi and Lidl are always great places to buy continental foods from Europe. I did this for our Eurovision Party, and it was well received!
- Hot Dogs: Grab a packet of frankfurters or bratwurst and some buns and make a plate of hot dogs. Serve with mustard, ketchup, and other toppings.
- Sandwich Bar: Provide various bread products and sandwich fillings, such as ham, cheese, and egg mayo, and let guests build their own sandwiches, subs, and wraps.
- Taco Station: Okay, so you will have to cook some taco meat, but provide tortillas, taco shells, guacamole, salsa, cheese, and all your favorite taco toppings, and guests can assemble their own. We did this for a World Cup Party, which was a big hit!
- Easy Buffet: Raid your supermarket for fresh or frozen party food—sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, mini quiches, pork pies, etc., and lay them out. If you’re feeling lazy, serve them straight from the packs or transfer them to platters if you have time.
- Veggie Plate: Buy a selection of vegetables, such as carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and mini sweet peppers (any you can eat raw), and cut them into crudites (or buy them pre-cut if possible). Serve them with a variety of store-bought dips. You could also add chips, pretzels, and crackers.
- Pizza Time: Pick up a selection of pizza, garlic bread, and dough balls, cook and serve.
- BBQ: Sport and barbecues are a great match! Set up the TV outside and enjoy burgers, beer, and football out in the sunshine.
