To celebrate I simply have to share these not-so-scary spiderweb Mickey Mouse Brownies!
A huge corner is cut with this recipe by using a tray of ready-made brownies. However, if you don’t have access to stores that sells this sort of thing (Costco, Sams’s Club, etc.,) then you can always use brownie mix to make your own.
The brownies are cut out using a Mickey-shaped cookie cutter, covered in melted chocolate, and decorated with frosting.
This is the kind of recipe that you can do with the kiddos, I’m sure they’d have fun piping on the spiders and their webs!
Ingredients & Equipment Used In This Recipe
While most ingredients can be bought in grocery stores, for your convenience, any specialized or notable ingredients (and equipment) needed for this recipe have been listed below and linked to Amazon or other stores if available online.
It does not include staple ingredients such as oil, salt, sugar, etc., as you’re likely to have those in your kitchen. The complete list of ingredients with measurements is found in the recipe card.
- Box of Brownie Mix – and the ingredients to make them. Or you can buy a tray of Pillsbury Chocolate Chunk Fudge Brownies ready-made brownies (Sam’s Club) to cut to size. Costco is another place to seek a large ready-made tray of them.
- Ghirardelli Chocolate Wafers – in the UK I highly recommend Callebaut Chocolate Callets.
- Tube Black Cake Frosting – Wilton’s tubes fit their standard piping tips, or you can squeeze into a piping bag.
- Tube White Cake Frosting – as above.
- Piping Bags – you can use disposable or reuseable, your choice.
- Round No. 3 Piping Tips – you will need 2 if possible.
- Cookie Sheet with Wire Rack
- Mickey Mouse Head Cookie Cutter – approximately 4″/10cm
Recipes on The Purple Pumpkin Blog use both cup measurements and/or weighted measurements. American cups and kitchen food scales are handy pieces of equipment to have in your kitchen as it means you’ll be able to make all of the different recipes on my blog. I try to give American, imperial, and metric measurements in my recipes. Please note, you can mix cup measurements with weighted measurements, but never mix imperial (pounds, ounces, pints, etc.,) with metric (kilograms, grams, litres, etc.,).

- Place the brownies onto a wire rack over a cookie sheet.
- Place the chocolate wafers in a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 45-second increments, mixing after each time, until the chocolate has completely melted.
- Carefully pour the chocolate over the Mickey brownies to completely cover them.
- Gently tap the wire rack onto the cookie sheet to allow the extra chocolate to drip off the brownies.
- Allow the chocolate to harden before removing the brownies from the wire rack.
- If using Wilton tubes of frosting, attach a round no.3 piping tip to the tube of white frosting, or alternatively, squeeze the frosting into a piping bag fitted with the same size tip.
- Pipe a spider web in the bottom corner of each brownie.
Pipe three lines up from the bottom right or left, then curved lines between each straight line. Use the image below as a guide. - Repeat step 7 with the tube of black frosting.
- Use the black frosting to pipe a medium-size circle for the spider’s body, then a smaller circle for the spider’s head.
