- Dairy – Unsalted Butter, Heavy Cream (Double Cream)

- Light Brown Sugar
- White Sugar
- Light Corn Syrup – you could also use Golden Syrup (UK)
- Pure Vanilla Extract – always buy good vanilla as it really does make a flavor difference
- All-Purpose Flour – also known as Plain Flour

How Do I Make Dirt & Worm Cookies?

Dirt & Worm Cookies
Ingredients
For the Cookies
- 1½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1½ cup light brown sugar
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 2 Tbsp light corn syrup
- 1 Tbsp pure vanilla extract
- 4 cups all-purpose flour plain flour
- 1 cup dark cocoa powder
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch cornflour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp kosher salt
For the Frosting
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar icing sugar
- 4 Tbsp heavy whipping cream double cream
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
For the Decoration
- 2 cups crushed Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies about ⅓ of a package
- 16 Gummy worms
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C/Gas 4. Line two cookie sheets with parchment or a nonstick baking mat and set them aside.
- To make the cookies, use an electric handheld or standing mixer, and beat the butter, light brown sugar, sugar, eggs, corn syrup, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
- Sift or whisk the flour, cocoa powder, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda in a medium bowl.
- Gradually beat the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
- Using a medium cookie scoop, scoop out dough into your hand and roll into a ball. You should get about 18 from the mixture.
- Place dough balls onto the cookie sheets and lightly press them into a thick disk.
- Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until firm around the edge.
- Leave to cool for 10 minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely before decorating.
- To make the frosting, use an electric handheld or standing mixer, and beat the butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, and cream until combined, smooth and holds a peak.
- Scoop the frosting into a piping bag fitted with a round tip.
- Pipe a tight spiral onto the top of each cooked and cooled cookie.
- Sprinkle the crumbled Oreos on top of each frosted cookie.
- Gently press a gummy worm into the center of each frosted cookie.
- Serve with a glass of milk and enjoy!
