Watermelon Vodka Slush
The full ingredients list and instructions are found in the printable recipe card at the end of this post. I highly recommend reading the blog post all the way through so that you don’t miss any tips or substitution suggestions and to ensure that you have all the ingredients and equipment required as well as understand the steps and timings involved.
With its sweet, juicy, red flesh, watermelon is a fruit I automatically think of when summer comes – it is one of my favorites!
Watermelon is so versatile – you can just slice it up and eat it straight from the store (or garden if you’re lucky enough to live a climate that can grow them!), and you can use the fruit in lots of recipes too including salads, desserts, and of course drinks!
Ingredients Used In This Cocktail
To make this Watermelon Vodka Slush you need very few ingredients:
- Fresh Watermelon – you could also make it with frozen watermelon.
- Fresh Lime Juice
- Vodka – use your preferred brand
- Sparkling Mixer – such as seltzer, club soda, soda water, carbonated water, sparkling mineral water, Sprite or 7 Up
You will need a good quality blender to help crush the ice in this frozen beverage.

Watermelon Vodka Slush Variations
I like to try and give variations on the cocktails shared on The Purple Pumpkin Blog, and especially turning the cocktail into a mocktail so that non-drinkers (and kids if suitable) can enjoy the drink too!
Watermelon Slush Mocktail (non-alcoholic)
So that non-drinkers and kids can enjoy a mocktail version of this drink, it really is as simple as leaving out the vodka! Follow the recipe as in the recipe card and omit the alcohol.
Watermelon Tequila (or Rum) Slush
You can totally make this slush with other liquors – tequila would work brilliantly, and I think rum would too. Simply swap the vodka out in the recipe.
Watermelon Vodka Slush for a Crowd
If you want to make this slush for a crowd, you can make a big batch of the cocktail no problem!
As long as you use the same measuring container (glass, cup, jug, etc.,) for the “1 part”, the ratios will be correct and you can make as much as you need to.
Have glasses ready with straws and slices of lime for guests to garnish their drinks.
To make a big batch of watermelon slush blend together the following:
- 4 parts watermelon
- ¼ part lime juice
- 1 part vodka
- 4 parts ice
This cocktail recipe is intended for adults of the legal drinking age in your country of residence.
Please drink responsibly. Do not drink and drive.
