Watermelon is one of those fruits that screams summer and sunshine! The sweet juicy red flesh tastes so good as a fruit in its own right, but is also such a versatile ingredient to use in a variety of recipes including salads, appetizers, and of course cocktails!
This slushie cocktail is so easy to make – watermelon flesh is whizzed up in a blender with lots of ice and moscato – ready to drink in no time at all and perfect for summer soirees!
Garnish your boozy watermelon slush with a wedge of watermelon and a cocktail umbrella!
What is Moscato?
Moscato is a sweet Italian wine made from Muscat grapes, and is historically known as a dessert wine. Moscato has a slight fizz and flavors of nectarine, peach and orange and is fairly low in alcohol too. Asti Spumante is the full sparkling version of Moscato, and you could use that in this cocktail too if you like.
Interestingly the Muscat grape is eaten as a table grape as well as being used to make raisins. The high level of sugar in these variety of grape is what gives Moscato its sweet flavor.

If you would like to make this beverage without the alcohol, whizz up the watermelon and ice and top up with club soda, or replace the soda with Sprite, 7-Up, or other lemon-lime soda – in the UK we call it [fizzy] lemonade.
You could also use no-alcohol wines if you still want the flavour for adults, but without the alcoholic content.
