Voodoo Vodka Cocktail

Voodoo Cocktail Variations

Here are some variations of the original cocktail recipe you might like to try.

Virgin Voodoo Mocktail (non-alcoholic)

So that non-drinkers can enjoy a Virgin Voodoo, we simply remove the alcohol and replace it.

Follow the recipe card using the non-alcoholic alternatives listed below instead of the alcoholic ones.

  • Increase the amount of red grape juice.
  • Replace the Vodka and Vanilla Liqueur with vanilla simple syrup.

I recommend adding the syrups to your taste as they may add the sweetness you may not necessarily get from alcoholic liqueurs.

Voodoo Mocktails with Non-Alcoholic Spirits

For adults who would still like to enjoy the taste of alcohol in their mocktail, you could try non-alcoholic alternatives.

In the UK, try Lyre’s, which is also available on Amazon in the UK and Amazon.com.

Other brands include Strykk (UK) and Ritual (US & Canada). Non-alcoholic spirits are a growing trend, so be on the lookout in your local stores and online.

Follow the recipe card using the non-alcoholic alternatives listed above instead of the alcoholic ones.

Frozen Voodoo

Want to turn this voodoo recipe into a frozen slushie? Here’s how!

Put all the ingredients in a blender with a generous amount of ice – then blend till smooth. For more grape flavor, freeze some grapes and use them instead of ice.

Serve with a straw, and watch out for brain freeze!

You can do the same with the mocktail version, too.

Voodoo Cocktail with…

If you’re not a fan of vodka or vanilla, you could switch out the booze in the cocktail for any of the following, which would work well with grape juice:

  • Rum – Spiced rum would work brilliantly, but white or dark would also be fine.
  • Cointreau – Or any other orange liqueur, such as Triple Sec or Grand Marnier.
  • Gin – Add a splash of tonic, too.
  • White Wine
  • Bourbon
  • Calvados – An apple brandy.
  • Tequila – Add Triple Sec, lime, and salt rim for a Voodoo Margarita!

Voodoo Party Punch

Want to make a big batch of voodoo cocktails for a party or gathering? It’s easy – here’s how.

If you use the same measuring container (glass, cup, jug, etc.) for the “1 part”, the ratios will be correct, and you can make as much as you need to

To make Voodoo Party Punch, mix together:

  • 2 parts Vanilla Liqueur
  • 1 part Vodka
  • 3 parts Grape Juice

Serve the large batch cocktail in drinks dispensers or pitchers, or go retro and serve from a punch bowl!

To keep the drink well chilled, add ice to your serving container. Or, so as not to dilute the punch, freeze some red and green grapes and use those as ice cubes instead.

Setting Up Your Halloween Cocktail Bar

When setting up your bar or cocktail serving area, don’t forget:

This cocktail recipe is intended for adults of the legal drinking age in your country of residence.

More Voodoo Cocktails

Want to serve more voodoo-themed drinks at your Halloween gathering? Conjure up these delights! (All make 1 drink, unless otherwise specified.)

Voodoo Juice Cocktail – Shake 1 oz each of Cruzan Pineapple Rum, Coconut Rum, and Banana Rum with 2 oz each of Orange Juice and Pineapple Juice in a large cocktail shaker with ice. Garnish with an orange slice and pineapple wedge.

Voodoorita – Pour 3 oz Gold Tequila, 2 oz Triple Sec, 2 oz Cranberry Juice, and 1 oz fresh lime juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour into salt-rimmed glasses. Garnish with a wedge of lime.

Voodoo Daiquiri – Shake 2 oz Cruzan Dark Rum, 1oz Bourbon, 4 oz Red Grape Juice, 1oz Lime Juice, and 1 oz Simple Syrup in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Garnish with a cocktail stick of red grapes.

Voodootini – Pour 2 oz Vanilla Vodka, 1 oz Triple Sec, 3 oz Red Grape Juice, ½ oz Lemon Juice into a mixing glass and stir with a bar spoon. Pour into well-chilled martini glasses and garnish with a lemon twist.

Voodoo Bucket – This is another themed cocktail that’s great for a crowd! It’s said to have originated in Maine, but it has been popularized at Myrtle Beach Resorts as an elevated version of Voodoo Juice.

And yes, it is served in an actual bucket! Why not serve it in a plastic cauldron or pumpkin bucket for Halloween?

Here is our take on this party cocktail that serves 4: Pour 12 oz each of Cranberry, Grape, and Pineapple Juice into your bucket. Add 4 oz each of Cruzan Dark Rum, Pineapple Rum, Coconut Rum, and Vanilla Rum. Stir well. Add ice, fresh grapes, pineapple chunks, and 4 straws!

While we’ve themed the Voodoo Bucket for Halloween, it’s a great drink for a hot summer day, too!

Saving Leftovers

While it’s best to enjoy the cocktail fresh to savor its flavors, you may have some left at the end of your party—don’t let it go to waste!

  • Transfer it to an airtight pitcher or container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Or, to make it last longer, turn it into Voodoo Granita!
  • Granita is a semi-frozen dessert made from sugar, water, and various flavorings. Originally from Sicily.
  • Transfer the cocktail to a shallow freezer-safe container and place it in the freezer for 6 hours (or overnight). You can add some simple syrup or another sweetener if desired.
  • Use a fork to break the frozen cocktail into small pieces. Serve and enjoy!
  • Or pour the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze.
  • Use the cocktail cubes to chill and flavor future cocktails without diluting the drink.
