Ingredients for Halloween Mickey and Minnie Oreo Pops
The ingredients and tools for this recipe are conveniently linked to online retailers such as Amazon, Amazon Fresh, Instacart, and Walmart. The quantities are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Black Candy Melts—Perfect for creating that deep, spooky base for Mickey’s iconic silhouette.
- White Candy Melts—Used to add spider web details and contrast to the pops.
- Orange Fondant—For creating Minnie’s cute little Halloween bow.
- Halloween Oreos—Seasonal Oreos with spooky designs and festive colors. You can use any flavor Oreo you like.
- Mini Oreos—These serve as Mickey’s famous ears in each pop.
- Vegetable Shortening—Helps the candy melts achieve the perfect consistency. You can also use (solid) coconut oil, but this may alter the taste of the candy.
The complete list of ingredients with measurements is on the recipe card at the end of this post. The Purple Pumpkin Blog uses both cups and weighted measurements in its recipes, making American cups and kitchen food scales valuable tools for trying all the recipes. We provide US customary, imperial, and metric measurements. Still, it’s important to note that while you can combine cup measurements with weighted measures, never mix US customary/imperial (pounds, ounces, pints, etc.) with metric (kilograms, grams, liters, etc.).
Equipment You’ll Need
- Mickey Silicone Popsicle Molds—You can’t make these Halloween Oreo pops without them! They come with plastic sticks, but you can replace them with Wooden Popsicle Sticks if you like.
- Fondant Bow Mold—You need a mold that will make 2″/5cm wide bows, or to fit the size of your pops.
- Disposable Piping Bag—To pipe spider webs onto the pops. You can also use a Mini Squeeze Bottle.
Recipe Tips!
- Preparing the Mold: Wash with hot water then dry well before using as this keeps the mold warm while spreading the melted candy and can help to prevent cracking.
- Use Vegetable Shortening: This helps thin out the candy melts, making it easier to coat the molds smoothly.
- Tap the Mold: After filling the mold with candy melts, gently tap it on the counter to release any trapped air bubbles. This will ensure a smooth, professional finish.
- Work in Small Batches: If you’re making several pops, melt the candy melts in small batches to keep the chocolate from hardening as you work.
- Add Extra Details: For an extra spooky effect sprinkle with Edible Glitter or place Halloween Spider [or other type of] Sprinkles.
- More Colors: You don’t have to stick to the colors we used. Try other Halloween colors like green, purple, or red for Minnie’s bow.
- Using Fondant: If you’ve never worked with fondant before, check out the tips in our Disney Minnie Mouse Red Velvet Christmas Cupcakes Recipe.
- Make in Advance: Fondant needs time to dry—for these Halloween treats the bows should be fine to use after an hour or so, but they can be made a day in advance.
- Using Candy Melts: Melting instructions are usually on the packaging. Read our top tips in our Hocus Pocus Candy Apples Recipe.

SUGGESTED PRODUCTS
Instructions
- To make the bows, use a silicone bow mold and dust the mold with cornstarch each time you make a fondant bow. The bows should be about 2"/5cm wide. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Pinch off about 1 tablespoon of orange fondant and press into the bow mold cavity.
- Carefully remove from mold and set on the parchment-lined cookie sheet to air dry for a few hours (overnight or for 24 hours if possible). Repeat to make 6 bows total. TIP! Always make extra fondant decorations as backup!
- Place the black candy melts into a microwave-safe bowl with the shortening. Melt according to package instructions, stirring to ensure even melting.
- Spoon 3 tablespoons of the melted candy into a Mickey mold. Use a small spoon (or clean, unused brush) to coat all sides of the mold.
- Place the mold into the fridge for about 10 minutes until set and hardened. Check to make sure that there are no areas around the base and sides that have been missed, and if there are, you can add another layer of melted candy as before and place it back in the fridge to set.
- Repeat steps 5-6 to make 12 in total.
- Carefully split the Halloween Oreos. Dip the top part (approximately 1/3) of a popsicle stick into melted candy and place onto the base of the Oreos and replace the top. Leave to set.
- Place the Oreos and sticks into the mold and 2 mini Oreos in the ears. Cover with 3-4 tablespoons of melted black candy and tap the mold on the counter a few times to dispel any air bubbles. Place back into the fridge for another 10-15 minutes until set and hardened. Carefully remove from the mold.
- To decorate, melt the (half bag) of white candy melts according to the package instructions then transfer to a disposable piping bag and cut off the tip.
- Pipe spider webs on each of the Mickey-shaped treats. Place a bow on half of them to create Minnie. Serve when candy has set. Enjoy, and Happy Halloween!
