Toasted slices of baguette are topped with slices of brie and a spoonful of delicious relish made with cranberries, orange juice, sugar, and spice.

Recipe Tips

  • For best results, make the orange-cranberry relish a day or two in advance to give the flavors a chance to blend.
  • When you are ready to serve, allow the prepared relish to reach room temperature or heat it briefly in the microwave (for about 20 seconds) to warm it up a bit. This will melt the Brie even more and make for a delicious, warm appetizer.
  • The orange-cranberry relish stores well and can be served on its own as a tasty side dish – so don’t be worried about any leftovers from making these yummy appetizers!

Ingredients

For the Crostini

  • 1 long, thin baguette, cut into ⅓”/1cm slices
  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 oz (225g) Brie cheese, rind removed and cut into thin slices

For the Relish

  • 12 oz (340g) bag fresh cranberries
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 Tbsp real maple syrup
  • ¾ cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tsp fresh ginger, finely minced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1½ Tbsp orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 and line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a nonstick baking sheet. Arrange the baguette slices on the prepared baking sheet and brush with the melted butter.
  2. Place the baking sheet in preheated oven and bake for 7-9 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and place a small slice of Brie on each crostino while it is still warm.
  3. While the bread is toasting, combine the cranberries, sugar, maple syrup, orange juice, ginger, cinnamon, and orange zest in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, for 10-12 minutes or until the cranberries “pop.”
  4. Remove from heat and cool for several minutes. Spoon some of the warm cranberry relish over each crostino and serve immediately. Enjoy!
