Materials & Tools Used in This Craft
The complete list of supplies, which may include basic crafting items that you already have can be found in the tutorial card at the end of this post. For your convenience, I’ve linked any notable materials and tools needed for this project to Amazon below.
- Lightweight Spackle – in the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and Canada, the brand “Polyfilla”, multi-purpose filler, is used as a generic term for spackling paste. Make sure to use a lightweight spackle as anything heavier will sink and not hold the “whipped cream” on top.
- Pastry Bag with Star Tip – ensure you use bags and tips for crafting purpose only and not the ones you use to make cakes.
- 2 mini plastic dessert cups – you can use any shape/size you like, just adjust the size of the foam craft ball and cardboard that goes inside.
- Paper Straw
- Foam Craft Balls – to fit inside the cups, approx 1.4″.
- Brown Acrylic Paint – we used Brown Oxide from Apple Barrel brand.
- Nonpareil Sprinkles – use any color or type of sprinkles you like.
- Superglue
- Craft Tweezers
- Natural Jute Twine – to hang the cup on your tree, or you could use matching ribbon.
Cheap Craft Supplies
If you’re in the USA, check out your local Dollar Store or Dollar Tree; and if you’re in the UK, the Poundshop, The Range, Wilko, and Baker Ross are great places to shop for cheap and inexpensive craft supplies. The rest of the world reading this – I don’t know every cheap store – sorry! But hunt the ones out in your location for crafting bargains!

- Get a pastry bag and tip specifically for crafting. Don’t reuse the bag or tip with food to be consumed.
- Lightweight spackle is needed. Regular spackle is heavier and will “sink” and collapse.
