What is Remembrance Day?

Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. It is observed on 11 November in most countries to recall the end of hostilities of the First World War on that date in 1918. Hostilities formally ended “at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month”.

If you cannot buy from a volunteer poppy seller, donating to the Poppy Appeal online is one way to help those in need within the Armed Forces community, serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.

The Poppy Shop has many poppy items, including pins, brooches, accessories, and more. If you can’t get out, or if you can’t find a poppy seller this year, this is another way for you to get involved.

100% of the profits from selling poppies go to the Royal British Legion, which helps members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans, and their families. Their support starts after one day of service and continues through life long after service is over.

Remembrance Day 2024

2024 marks the 80th anniversaries of momentous battles and turning points of the Second World War. The D-Day landings of 6th June – the largest seaborne invasion in history – marked the beginning of the liberation of western Europe.

When should you start wearing a poppy for Remembrance Day?

Many people think wearing a poppy 11 days before Remembrance Day is the best way to honor those impacted by war.

If you wish to do the same, you can start wearing your poppy on October 31st until November 11th.

How To Use Poppy Day Cupcake Toppers

There are 12 different poppy-themed cupcake toppers in this free printable set.

  • Print as many cupcake toppers as needed (12 to a page) onto some thin [white] card or good-quality thick [white] paper.
  • Cut them out carefully using scissors or a 2″ round punch.
  • Attach a cocktail stick or lollipop stick to the back of each topper and secure it with tape. Then, place the toppers into cupcakes.
  • If desired, mount the toppers onto matching color cardstock to hide the tape at the back.
  • Need recipes for cupcakes? Try The BEST Vanilla Cupcakes and, of course, Classic Buttercream Frosting.
  • Be sure to inform guests that toppers for your Remembrance Day cupcakes are not edible.
  • However, if you are lucky enough to own (or know someone who owns one) an edible ink printer, you can turn this printable into edible cupcake toppers. You must print onto edible icing paper or rice paper. After cutting them out, place them directly onto your cupcakes.

More Than Just Cupcake Toppers

While these are designed as cupcake toppers, they’re versatile enough to be used in other ways:

  • Place settings: Enhance your table by placing a topper next to each plate.
