Free Printable World War II Word Scramble Puzzles for VE Day
Home » CREATE » Free Printables » Word Scrambles »This free printable World War II Word Scramble is a great learning activity and puzzle for all ages. Print out the three different puzzles and unscramble the letters to form words related to WWII and VE Day.
World War II Word Scramble
The name of the puzzle (which in my day we used to call anagrams!) totally gives it all away – the words are scrambled up and you have to unscramble them to decipher the words.
I’ve created three WWII word scramble puzzles. Each one has 20 unique words (or phrases or names) related to World War II, so that means 60 to unscramble!
I have included an answer sheet for each one. You may want to give children some clues to the answers as some of the words may be a bit tricky for them to decipher. Although that is a great learning opportunity for them and a way to research about WWII.
All that is left to say is grab a pencil and get word unscrambling!
How To Use This Free Printable

Printables are available in two paper sizes – A4 and US Letter (8.5″ x 11″) – download the size that is appropriate for your printer.
- Using a printer, simply print as many of the word scrambles as you need onto white paper.
- Then use a pen or pencil to write down the unscrambled words.
Benefits of Word Scrambles
There are lots of brain-boosting benefits that come along with word scrambles and word puzzles in general. They can help improve memory, focus, vocabulary, word recognition, spelling, and problem-solving to name just a few.
But most of all, word puzzles are fun – for the whole family. And they’re cheap too, especially with my free printables!
Unscramble the words at your own pace, or make a game out of it and set a timer to see who can finish first!

Thank you so much for the free VE day downloads. I am not going out as I don’t want to risk contracting Coronavirus as I’m already terminally ill.
However, there is to be a social distancing’ street party’ on Friday, and thanks to you I’ll now be able to decorate the house and join in with the community spirit, albeit from my front door. It will be another memory made before the inevitable happens!
