Remembrance Day Word Scrambles
Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. It is observed on 11 November in most countries to recall the end of hostilities of the First World War on that date in 1918. Hostilities formally ended “at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month”.Wikipedia
As more lockdowns begin, the Poppy Appeal is at risk because volunteers who collect for the appeal by standing on the streets, outside shops and stations, may not be able to do so.
Donating to the Poppy Appeal online is one way that you can help those in need within the Armed Forces community; serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.
The Poppy Shop also has a wide range of poppy items including pins, brooches, accessories, and more. If you can’t get out, or if you can’t find a poppy seller this year, this is another way for you to get involved.
100% of the profits from selling poppies go to the Royal British Legion who helps members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans, and their families. Their support starts after one day of service and continues through life, long after service is over.
I am not affiliated in any way with the Royal British Legion or the Poppy Day shop, but want to do my bit to help this year.
I have created these free printable Remembrance Day Word Searches that you can print off at home, work, school, care home, community center, etc., to solve – please donate if you can.
In 2020 we pay tribute to the men and women of the Second World War generation, and to those of today’s, who have served and sacrificed to defend our nation. We remember the collaboration of the Commonwealth and Allied nations who stood shoulder to shoulder then to secure our freedom and the communities coming together today to protect us all.The Royal British Legion
The name of the puzzle totally gives it all away – the words (and phrases) are scrambled up and you have to unscramble the letters to decipher them.
I’ve created three, word scramble puzzles with different difficulty levels – easy, medium, and hard. Each one has words and phrases related to Remembrance Day.
I have included an answer sheet for each one. You may want to give children some clues to the answers as some of the words may be a bit tricky for them to decipher. Although that is a great learning opportunity for them and a way to research why we have Remembrance Day.
- There are 10 single words to find in the easy word scramble. The first letter of the word is capitalized as a clue.
