Cheap Craft Supplies

This can be a budget-friendly craft using supplies you may already have or that can be purchased cheaply in stores:

If you’re in the USA, check out your local Dollar Store or Dollar Tree; and if you’re in the UK, the PoundshopThe RangeWilko, and Baker Ross are great places to shop for cheap and inexpensive craft supplies.

To the rest of the world reading this, unfortunately, I don’t know every cheap store out there – sorry! But please do hunt the ones out in your location for crafting bargains!

How Do I Make Craft Stick Valentines Love Arrows?

The printable tutorial card with the full supplies list and instructions can be found at the end of this post.

Step 1 – Paint: Basecoat 10 jumbo craft sticks with white, red, and pink acrylic craft paint. Set them aside to dry, and apply a second coat if necessary.

TIP! You can use washable markers, crayons, or even colored pencils to color the jumbo craft sticks instead of paint.

Painting Craft Sticks

Step 2 – Layer Heart Stickers: Lay out two large red heart stickers and one medium red heart sticker onto your work surface, then lay two medium white hearts on top of the red hearts, and a small white heart on top of the medium red heart.

Peel back the liner paper and attach the white hearts to the red hearts. Do not remove the backing from the red hearts yet!

Repeat with pink and red hearts, then white and pink hearts.

TIP! Mix and match the colors to create your own unique combinations.

Step 3 – Attach Hearts to Sticks: Peel the backing paper from the first large, layered heart and attach it to the end of a painted craft stick. Repeat with the second large, layered heart, overlapping the pointed end. This creates the feather end of the arrow.

Peel the backing paper from the medium layered heart and attach it to the opposite end of the craft stick to create the arrow point.

TIP! If working with young kids, an adult may have to assist in the peeling of the sticker.

Step 4 – Attach Hearts to Back: Flip the arrow over and attach two large and one medium heart (in matching color) to the back of the layered hearts, covering the sticker adhesive to give a clean finish.

Step 5 – Add Messages: Download and print the Valentine’s Day love messages and cut out the individual messages with scissors. Use your glue of choice to attach the messages to the front of the arrow.

TIP! You can create your own sayings to print and stick to the arrows. You can also write them on using a marker pen, or, if you have the know-how, cut sentiments from vinyl using a Cricut or other cutting machine.
