Ingredients for Piña Colada Pudding Shots

The ingredients and tools for this recipe are conveniently linked to online retailers, including Amazon, Amazon Fresh, Instacart, and Walmart. The quantities are in the recipe card.

  • Dairy & Chilled: Whole Milk, Cool Whip, Whipped Cream
    • If you can’t get Cool Whip where you live, use some whipping cream whipped to stiff peaks and fold it into the pudding mixture. In the UK, Dream Topping is an option, but not quite as stable.
    • What is whipped cream? It’s literally just whipping (or heavy or double) cream whisked with some sugar and vanilla. You can also use an aerosol cream for decorating as a quick option.
  • Jell-O Coconut Cream Instant Puddingnot an ingredient used in the UK, but you can find it online or in American Candy Shops. You could also use instant vanilla pudding mix instead and flavor it with a drop of coconut extract.
  • Dark Rum
  • White Rum
  • Pineapple Rumsuch as Bacardi or Malibu Rum with Pineapple
  • Maraschino Cherriesthe perfect garnish!
  • Toasted Shredded Coconutto toast, spread shredded coconut in a dry frying pan and toast over medium heat, stirring often, until golden brown—about 3–5 minutes.

You will also need shot glasses or pudding cups for serving. A frosting bag is also handy for filling taller shot glasses like the 2-oz ones we used.

The complete list of ingredients, along with their measurements, is provided on the recipe card. The Purple Pumpkin Blog uses both cups and weighted measurements in its recipes, making American cups and kitchen food scales valuable tools for trying all the recipes. We provide measurements in US customary, imperial, and metric units. Still, it’s essential to note that while you can combine cup measurements with weighted measures, never mix US customary/imperial units (pounds, ounces, pints, etc.) with metric units (kilograms, grams, liters, etc.).
