Equipment Needed For This Recipe

The Purple Pumpkin Blog uses both cups and weighted measurements in its recipes, making American cups and kitchen food scales useful tools for trying out all the recipes. I provide US customary, imperial, and metric measurements, but it’s important to note that while you can combine cup measurements with weighted measures, never mix US customary/imperial (pounds, ounces, pints, etc.) with metric (kilograms, grams, liters, etc.).

Charcuterie Placement Tips

  • Start with placing bowls (for sauces and smaller foods) on your board and build around them.
  • Place larger and medium-sized foods onto the board first, and consider placing them towards the edges for structure.
  • In photography and design, odd numbers work best, as does an ‘S’ shape. Place your items with this in mind to help please and lead the eyes around the board.
  • Arrange items in uniform patterns on the board.
  • Fill in all available space – abundance looks the best when it comes to charcuterie boards. (A minimal approach can also work, experiment with your own aesthetic!)
  • Group the same items together and spread them out on the board; for example, if your board feeds 16 people, group the items together in different areas.
  • Try to keep similar colors separate if possible, and break up pale-colored foods with bright ones, like fruits, for example.
  • Don’t forget the garnish for both the board and the surrounding area. Use linens, flowers, herbs, and other decorations to elevate the beauty of your charcuterie board.

How Do I Set Up A French Fries Board?

The printable recipe card with the full ingredients list and instructions can be found at the end of this post.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 45 minutes

We used a Large Rectangular Wooden Board, but you could use any shape you like – adjust the elements to fit as required.

You could also use a ceramic or glass platter if you already have one, or, like they do on TikTok, lay out some parchment paper on the table or counter and place everything directly there!

Use our photos as a guide for the placement of the French fries and dipping sauces.

Step 1 – Cook Fries: Preheat your oven and cook the various fries according to the package directions.

TIP! You can, of course, cook your fries in a deep fryer or an air fryer if you have them. Keep fries warm in the oven by transferring them to a baking sheet and covering them with foil.

Step 2 – Decant Sauces: Pour sauces into small bowls or ramekins and place them in an ‘S’ shape down the center of the board.

Step 3 – Place Fries: Place groups of each of the fries on the board around the sauce bowls, making sure to fill all the space.

Step 4 – Garnish & Serve: If desired, garnish the board with chopped parsley, sliced jalapeños, and slices of lime. Serve and enjoy!
