Ingredients & Equipment Used In This Recipe
While most ingredients can be bought in grocery stores, for your convenience, any specialized or notable ingredients and equipment needed for this recipe have been linked to Amazon or other stores if available online.
It may not include staple ingredients such as oil, salt, sugar, etc., as you’re likely to have those in your kitchen. The complete list of ingredients with measurements is found in the recipe card.
- Oreo Cookies
- White Candy Melts
- Wilton Unicorn Icing Decorations – you can use a full decorating kit for the unicorn’s horn, ears and (closed) eyes, or if you can only find the horn decorations, then you can use two flaked almonds for ears instead, as well as the candy eyeballs listed below. There are always ways around things if you can’t find the exact decorations! You could even make your own using fondant and a unicorn horn mold.
- Rainbow Sprinkles
- Mini Candy Eyeballs
Recipes on The Purple Pumpkin Blog use both cup measurements and/or weighted measurements. American cups and kitchen food scales are handy pieces of equipment to have in your kitchen as it means you’ll be able to make all of the different recipes on my blog. I try to give American, imperial, and metric measurements in my recipes. Please note, you can mix cup measurements with weighted measurements, but never mix imperial (pounds, ounces, pints, etc.,) with metric (kilograms, grams, litres, etc.,).

How Do I Make Rainbow Unicorn Oreos?
Check out the printable recipe card below with full ingredients and instructions. Any demonstration photos do not print out to save your ink.
Rainbow Unicorn Oreos
Ingredients
- 12 Oreo cookies
- 1 bag white candy melts
- Rainbow sprinkles
- 12 candy eyeballs
- 2 Wilton Unicorn Cupcake Decorating Kits
- Almond slices 2 for each unicorn cookie
Instructions
- Line a cookie sheet with wax paper and set it aside.
- Melt the white candy coating according to package directions giving special care not to overheat the candy. If the candy coating is overheated, it will be too thick. You can add 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to help thin the candy but do not add any other type of liquid as the candy will seize and harden.
- Coat each cookie in melted candy. Place them on the prepared cookie sheet.
- Immediately add a unicorn horn (and ears if using a kit) and almond slices for ears, candy eyes, and rainbow sprinkles as shown.
- Allow the candy coating to harden before serving.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Placing in the refrigerator may cause the cookie to soften.
