Summer Berry Platter
Home » COOK » Recipes » Recipes by Ingredient » Fruit »I was selected recently to be a #MorrisonsMum and hubs and I went to our nearest Morrisons supermarket to buy the food for our Bank Holiday Monday Family BBQ, I promised I would share all the recipes, so here is my recipe for Summer Berry Platter.
It’s not really a recipe though is it, but rather a way to present some fresh tasty summer berries to have as a dessert at BBQs and picnics. I prepared mine in advance and placed into a large foil container with a lid (you know, like the take-away containers) so that meant I could keep it in the fridge until we were ready to have dessert. Would be great for taking with you to a family potluck!
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Blueberries
- Blackberries
- Red grapes
- Wash and prepare all the fruit – hull the strawberries and cut in half or quarters depending on their size, leave the other berries whole and pluck the red grapes from the stalks.
- Arrange on either a serving dish or in a foil tray.
- Serve the fruit as it is, or with cream or ice-cream
Costings…
The cost of the fruit in this platter was as follows: strawberries – £1.69, raspberries – 99p, blackberries – £2, blueberries – £2 (these were 2 for £3) and red grapes – £2. Total £7.68. Not cheap, I know, but berries always seem to be very expensive. The fruit was all really juicy and sweet though, which was a nice surprise as sometimes you can get a nasty shock with sour berries!
