Pot of Gold Craft

If you love seasonal crafts, you are going to have so much fun making this sweet pot of gold craft, filled with chocolate gold coins, and topped with a rainbow!
Make the pots of gold with the kiddos and work on colors and counting as you assemble the rainbow pipe cleaners/chenille stems.
Limited (and cheap) craft supplies make this activity totally doable in just 15 minutes!
You could make a whole bunch of rainbow and pots of gold for classmates, co-workers, and neighbors for a St. Patty’s Day treat!
Materials & Tools Used in This Craft

- Pipe Cleaners – also known as Chenille Stems, in rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, purple)
- Plastic Pots/Cauldrons
- Shredded Paper – we used white but you could use any color you like
- Gold Foil Chocolate Coins
- Green Marker Pen
- Mini White Price Tags – you could cut these by hand from cardstock and punch a hole at the end
- Black and White Bakers Twine – you could use any color, or even natural jute twine
Cheap Craft Supplies
A great thing about this craft idea is that it’s very budget-friendly using supplies you may already have or can be purchased cheaply in stores:
If you’re in the USA, check out your local Dollar Store or Dollar Tree; and if you’re in the UK, the Poundshop, The Range, Wilko, and Baker Ross are great places to shop for cheap and inexpensive craft supplies. The rest of the world reading this – I don’t know every cheap store – sorry! But hunt the ones out in your location for crafting bargains!

Craft Tips
- Use a low temp glue gun when making this craft with kids, as it’s a lot safer than hot glue.

How Do I Make Rainbow Pots of Gold?

Rainbow & Pot of Gold Craft
Materials
- Pipe Cleaners/Chenille Stems – Rainbow Colors Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet
- Plastic Pots/Cauldrons
- Paper Shred any color
- Gold Foil Chocolate Coins
- Green Marker Pen
- Mini White Price Tags
- Black and White Bakers Twine
Instructions
- Remove the handle from the plastic pot (they just pop out).
- Select seven rainbow colors of pipe cleaner, and line them in order.
- Starting in the middle with the 4th color pipe cleaner, attach each color to the top flat edge of the plastic pot with the glue gun and glue sticks. Use the seam on the side of the pot as a guide.
- Once the glue is cooled and set, carefully bend each chenille stem and attach it to the opposite side of the plastic pot.
- Write the recipient’s name in a green marker on the mini price tag.
- Thread tag onto baker’s twine and tie around the top of the pot. Tie in a knot or a bow and trim ends, if necessary.
- Fill the plastic pot with paper shred and gold foil-wrapped chocolate candy coins.
- Display where desired. Happy St. Patrick's Day and May the Luck of the Irish Be With Ye!
