Kawaii Felt Shamrock
The full list of materials, tools, and instructions is found in the printable tutorial card at the end of this post. I highly recommend reading the blog post all the way through before starting this project to ensure that you have everything required and understand the steps and timings involved.
This adorable kawaii felt shamrock craft is fun family activity to create in just about 30 minutes.
Make them with the kids as you talk about St. Patrick’s Day (at home or in the home/classroom) and what shamrock actually is!
To help you along, a shamrock is a three-leaf clover (which comes from the Gaelic word seamróg, which literally means “little clover.”), used as a symbol of Ireland. Saint Patrick, Ireland’s patron saint, is said to have used it as a metaphor for the Christian Holy Trinity – The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Not to be confused with four-leaf clover which when found is said to bring luck as it’s very rare to find those!
Additionally, you can work on shapes, colors, cutting, and counting with this simple craft created from felt.
You could use them as place cards for a St. Paddy’s Day dinner, or attach a whole bunch of them to string to hang up as a garland – whether at home or in the office (even us grown-ups need a bit of cheer at work!)
We’ve shown three options in the tutorial card using brooch/pin backs to attach a cute shamrock to your clothes, an alligator hair clip to place the green shamrock in your hair, and small magnets to pop onto the fridge or other magnetic surface!
