Back on Day 11 of #100DaysOfDisney I wrote about Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, one of the three mountains at Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World. Today, I’m going to be telling you all about Splash Mountain…
There is also a Splash Mountain at Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland, it is a log-flume dark ride based on characters, stories and songs from the 1946 Disney film, Song of the South. As you travel through each of the three stories, you see the audio-animatronic characters, accompanied by music and then a drop. The final song is Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah and the final drop is 53 feet!!
We had a Fastpass for Splash Mountain in 2011, but got totally rained off, and didn’t get a chance to go on it! We did however, ride it in 2013, and it was BRILLIANT! It’s a long ride, but the drop is brilliant and such fun! If the line for it wasn’t so damn long, we’d have gone straight back on!
Here is our ride photograph…if you have a search online for Splash Mountain ride photos you’ll see lots of hilarious staged ones, this was the best we could do – I so wish the boy had had his sunglasses on, that would have made our pose even more awesome!!!
We have now been on 2 of the 3 mountains, and only Space Mountain is left for us – maybe this year?!
Have you been on Splash Mountain? Do you pose for a ride photo on the drop?!
Day 39 of #100DaysOfDisney is done – 61 to go!
