Gift Ideas for Baby’s First Christmas
A baby’s first Christmas is a lovely milestone – no matter what their age. They may be just a few days, weeks, or months old, or nearing their 1st birthday!
This gift guide has some wonderful gifts for babies aged 0-12 mths.
I initially wrote this gift guide in 2017, and time, as it does, changes things. Products marked with an asterisk (*) were gifted to me at that time, and items, as shown in my photos, may no longer be available. I have tried to find similar products on that brand’s website, or elsewhere if the business no longer sells that product. I have also included items on this list that I think would make a great gift or an addition to a gift basket or Christmas stocking.

Baby’s First Christmas Stocking*
This Christmas stocking from Babyblooms is handmade in the UK, and the luxurious fabric and superb craftsmanship make this a wonderful gift for a baby’s first Christmas.
The lovely addition of the baby’s name (up to 10 letters), beautifully embroidered in matching thread creates a gift to be treasured for years to come.
The stocking measures 35 cm (from top to heel) with a width of 18cm, and is available in pink, blue and red.
Stocking gift sets are available with Bertie Bear – a traditional style seated teddy bear with a subtly embossed white ribbon bow around his neck wearing a beautifully knitted jumper embroidered with the name of your choice.
When Babyblooms contacted me about their gorgeous baby gifts website, offering an item for this gift guide; I was going to choose the stocking set with a teddy bear. But I had a browse through and saw that they sold a super cute lion plush toy. My nephew is called Leo, he’s my little lion cub and it would be perfect for him! So I received a very beautiful personalised stocking and a soft and cuddly lion.
The stocking is absolutely lovely. It’s velvety soft and feels very high quality. The lion plush is so cute – so soft and huggable!
Now, of course, the baby is going to need to receive this gift before Christmas Eve so that Santa can make a visit! So present it to the parents a few days before. With it arriving in a gift box, tied up with a bow, you don’t even have to worry about wrapping it all up!
I’ve already given my nephew his Christmas stocking – well to his mummy, as he’s only 3 months old! She has expressed how lovely they are and can’t wait to hang them up on Christmas Eve.
Ohana Means Family Onesie
If you’re a Disney fan, then you going to love this adorable Ohana Means Family Onesie!
The 100% cotton onesie is available in 7 different colors and from ages 6 months – 24 months.
The design features Stitch, surrounded by tropical plants, and the words “Ohana Means Family” – adorable!
The soft, medium-weight onesie is reinforced with DTM 3-snap bottom closure making it secure but easy to take off when needed.
Fairytale Magic Castle Pillow
And why not add a throw pillow to your baby’s first Christmas gift box?
The sweet Fairytale Magic Castle Pillow is available in 5 different sizes from 14″x14″ to 26″x26″ and is just perfect for the baby’s nursery.
The textured Poly “Twill” pillow cover with concealed zipper comes with a synthetic insert included.
Baby Elf Sleepsuit & Hat Set*
Baby’s first Christmas outfit…
Go all-out this Christmas with this impossible-to-resist Baby Elf Set from JoJo Maman Bébé.
Supersoft velour features, cute embroidered button, and belt detail create an authentic elfin look with little hassle. The candy cane stripe to the bottom half is crafted from soft cotton, ensuring your little elf is comfy all day long. The set comes with a coordinating hat to finish the sweet look – essential for keeping tiny heads warm this season. Available in sizes from 6 months to 6 years.
I think I am in cute heaven with this Elf sleepsuit! How adorable is it? My nephew is going to look so sweet in this outfit, I cannot wait for him to wear it! Elf is his mummy’s favourite Christmas film, so when I saw this I knew it would be perfect for Leo (and for her!) It is very soft to the touch and feels so warm and snuggly.
Christmas Rudolf the Reindeer Ultrabib*
For baby’s Christmas dinner…
My son was 10 months old for his first Christmas, and was able to have some of our Christmas dinner – mashed up with lots of gravy! This bib would have been awesome for him at that age!
The Bibetta Ultrabib has a soft pelican-style pocket that folds out to catch food, making this bib ideal for baby-led weaning as children can easily retrieve dropped finger food. It is made from flexible and waterproof neoprene (which is like scuba material) and can be hand or machine-washed at 30ºC. It is also tumble dryer safe.
Leo might be a little bit young for this bib this year, but I’m sure it’s going to come in very useful for his second Christmas! I love how bright and colourful it is, and Rudolf is very cute!
Unfortunately, the reindeer design shown below is no longer available on the Bibetta website, but other designs are available.
Teletubbies Toys
Teletubbies are making a comeback, so it’s time for Teletubbies, time for Teletubbies!
Whether your baby’s favourite is Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, or Po, they will love the bright colours!
Stack & Tumble Elephant*
For babies aged 6+ months
LeapFrog Toys are great for little ones to learn a variety of skills through play like colours, numbers, and shapes, as well as listening and observation skills, and fine motor skill development.
Sadly, the very cute Stack & Tumble Elephant from Leapfrog doesn’t seem to be available in the UK anymore, even though he is listed on Leapfrog’s website.
It can be bought in the US can be bought online at Amazon.com
Baby’s 1st Christmas Ornament*
Baby’s first Christmas keepsake…
Another item sadly no longer available is the (pictured above) Baby’s 1st Christmas Star Hanger, from JoJo Maman Bébé. However, they do have a lovely range of Baby’s First Christmas products to choose from.
I’ve selected a range of ornaments for a baby’s first Christmas from Amazon (below).
This kind of gift is a lovely keepsake and something for the parents to treasure. I still have my son’s first Christmas bauble, and it goes on the tree every year!

To help baby’s cognitive & visual development…
This triple pack of supersoft 100% cotton muslin squares from Etta Loves comes in gorgeous animal prints – zebra, starfish, and dalmatian.
The high-contrast black-and-white patterns are designed specifically to aid babies’ cognitive and visual development. (Read the science part here on Etta Loves’ website).

Generous 70cm x 70cm size, perfect for mopping up baby yuck, playing peekaboo with, and everything in between.
I love how these muslin squares are both stylish, and practical – the best of both worlds!

The Christmas Snowflake*
Start a new tradition…
I know I have already shared this book in my children’s gift guide, but I think it is worth a mention again because it is such a wonderful book!
I believe that it’s really important to start reading to your child from a young age. I did that with my son and he has had an interest in books and reading ever since.
As you read on about this book, you’ll see why I think it would make the start of a lovely new tradition.
Buy The Christmas Snowflake from Wonderbly
Snowflake is looking for a place to call home this Christmas – but only you and your loved ones can help! A charmingly personalised festive tale the whole family will adore.
Up to 9 different family members can help Snowflake on the journey. Their names will magically appear on Snowflake’s crystals, festive Christmas stockings, and even floating majestically on the wind…
The Christmas Snowflake is a visual and lyrical treat – illuminated with heartwarming characters, gorgeous illustrations, and playful verse on every page.
As the final page is turned, you’ll find a charming pull-out-and-keep ornament – perfectly framing your family’s names in the book beneath.
We are big fans of Wonderbly (formerly Lost My Name) and their personalised books. You can read the reviews of Kingdom of You and The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name. In fact, keep on reading through this gift guide as there is another awesome book from Wonderbly for slightly older children too!
Once again, Wonderbly delivers a wonderful book, printed on luxurious, premium quality paper with 34 gorgeously illustrated pages, and lovely lyrical verse throughout. The story is magical and it’s not just about one child like their other books – up to 9 other people can be added too. This really brings the story to life for the whole family, and I can see this book being a new tradition.
Once you reach the end of the book, you are greeted by a sweet little surprise – a pull-out-and-keep snowflake ornament. Place it on the tree for Christmas, and tuck it safely back in the book for another year.
The book comes in hardback format and measures 29.7 cm x 17.8 cm. You can also add festive gift wrap at a small extra cost. The wrapping is like a huge cardboard envelope, which can be used to store the book inside until next Christmas.
Customization of the book is very easy – you just follow the steps online, and can preview it all before you send in your order. You also have the option to write a special message to the recipient.
