Wow, Christmas is really starting to creep up on us now. I know it happens every year, but it always catches me by surprise – does it you? I always think I’ve got weeks to go, then BAM, suddenly it’s just a few weeks away! In the gift buying department I’ve got you covered with a series of gift guides for you. Today it’s Gift Ideas for Baby’s First Christmas.
Baby’s First Christmas
A baby’s first Christmas is a lovely milestone – no matter what their age. They may be just a few days, weeks, or months old, or nearing their 1st birthday! This gift guide has some wonderful gifts for babies aged 0-12 mths.
I’ve reached out to brands for this Christmas Gift Guide, so products marked with an asterisk (*) have been gifted to me. Other items I’ve included are things I think would make a great gift, or an addition to a gift basket or Christmas stocking. This post also contains Amazon Affiliate and other affiliate links. If you clicked the link then made a purchase, a small percentage of the sale price would be paid to me. It doesn’t cost you anything more but it helps keep the lights on over here!
This guide is detailed (and long!) Of course I would love you to browse through all the items within it, but if you are short on time, each of the links listed will jump to the relevant section. Don’t forget you can save this post to Pinterest to read later. Or maybe share it on Facebook to drop a few hints!
Baby’s first Christmas stocking…
This Christmas stocking from Babyblooms is handmade in the UK, and the luxurious fabric and superb craftsmanship make this a wonderful gift for baby’s first Christmas. The lovely addition of baby’s name (up to 10 letters), beautifully embroidered in matching thread creates a gift to be treasured for years to come.
The stocking measures 35 cm (from top to heel) with a width of 18cm, and is available in pink, blue and red.
Stocking gift sets are available with Bertie Bear – a traditional style seated teddy bear with a subtly embossed white ribbon bow around his neck wearing a beautifully knitted jumper embroidered with the name of your choice. And for slightly older babies and toddlers, there is the Bertie Bear’s Christmas Eve Hamper which has the stocking, teddy bear and a soft and snuggly pair of pyjamas in sizes 12-18mths, and 18-24mths.
When Babyblooms contacted me about their gorgeous baby gifts website, offering an item for this gift guide; I was going to choose the stocking set with a teddy bear. But I had a browse through and saw that they sold a super cute lion plush toy. My nephew is called Leo, he’s my little lion cub and it would be perfect for him! So I received the very beautiful personalised stocking, and the soft and cuddly lion.
The stocking is absolutely lovely. It’s velvety soft, and feels very high quality. The lion plush is so cute – so soft and huggable!
Now of course, baby is going to need to receive this gift before Christmas Eve so that Santa can make a visit! So present it to the parents a few days before. With it arriving in a gift box, tied up with a bow, you don’t even have to worry about wrapping it all up!
I’ve already given my nephew his Christmas stocking – well to his mummy, as he’s only 3 months old! She has expressed how lovely they are and can’t wait to hang them up on Christmas Eve.

I think I am in cute heaven with this Elf sleepsuit! How adorable is it? My nephew is going to look so sweet in this outfit, I cannot wait for him to wear it! For baby’s Christmas dinner…
Christmas Rudolf the Reindeer Ultrabib*
My son was 10 months old for his first Christmas, and was able to have some of our Christmas dinner – mashed up with lots of gravy! This bib would have been awesome for him at that age!
The Bibetta Ultrabib has a soft pelican-style pocket that folds out to catch food, making this bib ideal for baby led weaning as children can easily retrieve dropped finger food. It is made from flexible and waterproof neoprene (which is like scuba material), and can be hand or machine washed at 30ºC. It is also tumble dryer safe.
Leo might be a little bit young for this bib this year, but I’m sure it’s going to come in very useful for his second Christmas! I love how bright and colourful it is, and Rudolf is very cute!
Definitely more suitable for him this year is Bibetta’s Super Soft Dribble Bib™.
The dribble bib is one of the softest, lightest, most waterproof and most absorbent dribble bibs available, making it perfect for all day wearing.
Styled as a bandana bib it has innovative pleats sewn around the neck, so the fabric is already gathered perfectly and more safely under the chin, and the pleats are guaranteed to catch lots more dribble!
It has two layers of unique, fine, micro-fibre fabric which absorb dribble twice as fast as cotton and wick it comfortably away which keeps your child’s skin dry and protected. The elegant looking bib also has baby-soft velcro and a strong, waterproof backing for the ultimate protection, comfort and peace of mind.
I wish that they had these bibs back when my son was a baby – I used to get through so many bibs and tops during the day because all the dribble would soak through! I love that these are both functional and stylish!

Stack & Tumble Elephant*
Stacking is tons of fun with the Stack & Tumble Elephant from Leapfrog. Stack the five brightly coloured, textured rings on the elephant’s trunk. As each ring is placed on the trunk, he will play silly sounds, say adorable phrases and introduce colours, numbers and shapes. Press the music note button on the elephant’s trunk to hear playful songs. When you press his tail, the elephant will count, talk, sneeze and send the rings tumbling off his trunk.
Stack and Tumble Elephant is perfect for introducing little ones to colours, numbers and shapes. Little ones can test their listening and observation skills as they respond to Ellie’s instructions and the stacking encourages fine motor skill development. The toy requires batteries which are included! I love when toys do this, nothing worse than opening a toy on Christmas Day to find out it needs batteries and there are none in the house!
The Leapfrog Stack & Tumble Elephant can be bought online at Amazon and at all good toy retailers.

Start a new tradition…
The Christmas Snowflake*
I know I have already shared this book in my children’s gift guide, but I think it is worth a mention again, because it is such a wonderful book! I think it’s really important to start reading to your child from a young age. I did that with my son and he has had an interest in books and reading ever since. As you read on about this book, you’ll see why I think it would make the start of a lovely new tradition.
Snowflake is looking for a place to call home this Christmas – but only you and your loved ones can help! A charmingly personalised festive tale the whole family will adore.
Up to 9 different family members can help Snowflake on the journey. Their names will magically appear on Snowflake’s crystals, festive Christmas stockings, and even floating majestically on the wind…
The Christmas Snowflake is a visual and lyrical treat – illuminated with heartwarming characters, gorgeous illustrations and playful verse on every page.
As the final page is turned, you’ll find a charming pull-out-and-keep ornament – perfectly framing your family’s names in the book beneath.
We are big fans of Wonderbly (formerly Lost My Name) and their personalised books. You can read the reviews of Kingdom of You and The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name. In fact, keep on reading through this gift guide as there is another awesome book from Wonderbly for slightly older children too!
Once again, Wonderbly delivers a wonderful book, printed on luxurious, premium quality paper with 34 gorgeously illustrated pages, and lovely lyrical verse throughout. The story is magical and it’s not just about one child like their other books – up to 9 other people can be added too. This really brings the story to life for the whole family, and I can see this book being a new tradition.
Once you reach the end of the book, you are greeted by a sweet little surprise – a pull-out-and-keep snowflake ornament. Place it on the tree for Christmas, and tuck it safely back in the book for another year.
The book comes in hardback format, and measures 29.7 cm x 17.8 cm. You can also add festive gift wrap an small extra cost. The wrapping is like a huge cardboard envelope, which can be used to store the book inside until next Christmas.
Customisation of the book is very easy – you just follow the steps online, and can preview it all before you send in your order. You also have the option to write a special message to the recipient.
