Coastal Clothespin Wreath Craft

Do you love the beach but can’t always get there? Bring the beach to your home with this coastal clothespin wreath craft!
This is an easy project that you can complete in around an hour or so (need time for the paint to dry), and it’s a great way to add some beach vibes to your decor.
You’ll use wooden clothespins and seashells to create a beautiful wreath that will remind you of those warm summer days by the ocean!
Materials & Tools Used in This Craft
For your convenience, I’ve linked any notable materials and tools needed for this project to Amazon below. (It may not include basic crafting supplies such as glue or scissors, as you may already have those.) The complete list of ALL supplies required can be found on the tutorial card at the end of this post.
- 14-Inch Wire Wreath Form
- Metal Relax Sign – if you can’t find this exact sign locally, you can replace it with a wooden one instead, or even wooden letters from the craft store.
- Sea Shells – use ones you have on hand that you may have collected yourself, or buy ones suitable for crafting. Use any kind you like!
- Wooden Spring Hinge Clothespins (Pegs) – you could always upcycle some old ones you have. You will need around 75.
- White Spray Paint – or any white paint you have on hand
- Coffee – to darken some of the clothespins
- Container – to soak the clothespins in the coffee, use one you have on hand
- Light Blue Paint
Cheap Craft Supplies
A great thing about this craft idea is that it’s budget-friendly using supplies you may already have or can be purchased cheaply in stores:
If you’re in the USA, check out your local Dollar Store or Dollar Tree; and if you’re in the UK, the Poundshop, The Range, Wilko, and Baker Ross are great places to shop for cheap and inexpensive craft supplies. The rest of the world reading this – I don’t know every cheap store – sorry! But hunt the ones out in your location for crafting bargains!

How Do I Make A Coastal Clothespin Wreath Craft?

Coastal Clothespin Wreath Craft
Materials
- Clothespins – approximately 75
- White Spray Paint – or any white paint you have
- Light Blue Paint
- Coffee
- Metal Relax Sign – or similar
- 14- Inch Wire Wreath Form
- Sea Shells
- Nautical Rope – or twine optional
TOOLS
- Container (to soak the clothespins in)
- Hot glue gun
Instructions
- Prepare the clothespins by painting 30 of them white, 15 of them blue, and 30 of them soak for a few hours in coffee, and dry in a very low oven (100°C/200°F/Gas ¼) for an hour, or leave them outside in the sunshine to dry naturally.
- Paint the 'Relax' sign in your desired color, and leave it to dry.
- When the clothespins have dried, pin them in any order that you like around the wire wreath form. You can add hot glue for added strength if you like.
- Using hot glue, attach the 'Relax' sign to the bottom center of the wreath.
- Lay seashells on either side of the 'Relax' sign, and when happy with the layout, hot glue into place.
- You can create a hanging loop with nautical rope or twine if you like and attach it to the back of the wreath.
- Display where desired!
