Free Pumpkin Carving Patterns
It’s no secret that I love carving pumpkins. I carve several every year, and have been doing so for the last, ooh, 25 years (oh my, suddenly I feel REALLY old!). Before I discovered awesome pumpkin stencil designs, I would do the standard spooky faces, freehand. Pumpkin carving has come a long way since then!
I have literally hundreds of designs that I’ve collected over the years – some have been freebies I’ve found online, some I’ve designed myself, and some I’ve paid for.
You’ll find the free ones below, and any marked with an asterix (*) I paid for, so can’t provide them here for you, but have linked to where you can purchase them if you wish.
Many of these pumpkin templates are ones that I have carved out myself, so you can see what the finished pumpkin should look like.
If you’ve never carved a pumpkin before, you may want to check out my post: Pumpkin Carving 101 on how to do it!
If you are thinking you couldn’t possibly carve any of these designs – I will be the first to say that it is a lot easier than you think. I jumped in headfirst in 2004, and my first pumpkins turned out so much better than I ever imagined they would! We all have to start somewhere, so grab yourself a pumpkin carving kit, download and print off a few of these pumpkin carving patterns and get to carving!
I’m first going to share the patterns that I’ve carved out over the years – you’re going to have to forgive some of my older, blurry photographs from many moons ago! Then at the end of this post is a handy folder link on Google Drive with all of the free patterns below, plus about 100 more!
Links will open in a new window/tab.

And that’s where my carved pumpkin photos end! I know we didn’t do Halloween at home in 2015 because we were in Walt Disney World, and in 2016, we only had a little party, where I know I just re-carved old templates so didn’t bother with photos. And I don’t seem to have any pictures from 2017 or 2018… which is weird, but who knows what was going through my mind at the time.
Suffice to say 2019 is going to be a big year for pumpkin carvings for me – I might even get brave and try a 3-D carving which looks so impressive, but I’m not quite sure my sculpting skills are up to that!!
As promised at the start of this post, there are lots more pumpkin carving patterns for you to download.
