Cocktail Ingredients

The ingredients and tools for this recipe are conveniently linked to online retailers, including Amazon, Amazon Fresh, Instacart, and Walmart. The quantities are in the recipe card.

  • Watermelon LiqueurChoose any watermelon liqueur you enjoy. Brands like DeKuyper Watermelon Pucker or Bols Watermelon Liqueur are great choices—they bring both vibrant color and delicious watermelon flavor to your drink.
  • LimoncelloA sweet, zesty Italian lemon liqueur that adds a burst of citrus flavor. Use your favorite brand; Caravella and Luxardo are popular choices.
  • Pink LemonadeUse American-style pink lemonade, a still (non-fizzy) sweetened lemon drink tinted pink, typically with a splash of fruit juice, such as cranberry or strawberry.
  • LemonadeUse American-style lemonade (made with lemon juice, sugar, and water), not the fizzy kind popular in the UK. For best results, use homemade or store-bought still lemonade.
  • Watermelon Cocktail Syrup
  • Garnish: Watermelon Wedges and Lemon Slices

Cocktail Equipment

  • Cocktail GlassesServe in tall highball or Collins glasses to show off the beautiful layers. For a more relaxed, summery feel, try stemless wine glasses or mason jars.

Make the Watermelon Layer:

  • Add the watermelon liqueur, pink lemonade, watermelon cocktail syrup, and ice to the blender (no need to rinse). Blend on high until smooth.

Pair It With…

Looking for the perfect bites to serve with your Spiked Frozen Watermelon Lemonade?

Frozen Watermelon Lemonade Mocktail (Non-Alcoholic)

For a non-alcoholic version of this cocktail, blend 3 oz pink lemonade, 1 tbsp watermelon cocktail syrup, 2 cups ice, and (optionally) about 1 cup fresh watermelon chunks for extra fruity flavor.

In a separate batch, blend 3 oz still lemonade and 2 cups ice.

Layer the two mixtures in your glasses as in the original recipe, and garnish with watermelon wedges and lemon slices for a fun and refreshing treat.

Virgin Frozen Watermelon Lemonade with Non-Alcoholic Spirits

For adults who want the cocktail experience without alcohol, try non-alcoholic alternatives such as Lyres (UK and USA), Strykk (UK), and Ritual (US & Canada).

  • Use a non-alcoholic watermelon liqueur or simply boost the watermelon syrup.
  • Replace the limoncello with a non-alcoholic citrus liqueur, or add extra lemonade with a splash of lemon juice for tartness.

Follow the same blending and layering steps as the original recipe, using the non-alcoholic options listed above.

How to Make a Big Batch for Parties

It’s easy to make this cocktail for a crowd! Simply multiply the ingredients by the number of servings you need. For example, to make enough for 8 servings:

  • Watermelon layer: Blend together 12 oz (355 ml) watermelon liqueur, 12 oz (355 ml) pink lemonade, 4 tbsp watermelon cocktail syrup, and 8 cups (about 1 kg) ice.
  • Lemon layer: Blend together 12 oz (355 ml) limoncello, 12 oz (355 ml) lemonade, and 8 cups (about 1 kg) ice.

Transfer each layer to large freezer-safe pitchers or containers and keep frozen until ready to serve. When serving, layer the drinks in glasses as you would with individual servings, and swirl gently with a spoon or straw for that signature marbled look.

Tip: You can also pre-layer the drinks in glasses and freeze them for a short time (up to 30 minutes) before guests arrive—just add garnishes at the last minute!
