Materials & Tools Used in This Craft
The materials and tools needed for this project have been linked to Amazon below for your convenience. The quantities are on the craft tutorial card at the end of this post.
- Triple Stacked Pumpkins—The heart of our craft, these stacked pumpkins are the perfect base for our snowman. They’re versatile and can be painted and decorated in numerous ways. If you can find pure white pumpkins, skip the “painting them white step.” Ours were cream-colored and not quite the brilliant snowy white we wanted. If you cannot find stacked pumpkins, you can glue three pumpkins together in varying sizes.
- Black Buttons and Rhinestones—These small embellishments add character to our snowman, bringing his face and body to life.
- Gingham Ribbon—To make a stylish scarf and give our snowman a cozy, country feel. We used black-and-white ribbon, but choose alternative colors to match your decor or for a pop of fun.
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks—An essential in any crafter’s toolkit, the glue gun ensures all our elements stay securely in place. If crafting with kids, opt for a low-temp glue gun for added safety.
- White Acrylic Craft Paint—Transforms the pumpkins into frosty snowmen; multiple coats may be needed for full coverage. In our supplies photo, we also have pink and black paints. You can use pink to paint rosy cheeks and black for eyes and buttons if desired.
- Orange Craft Felt—To make for the snowman’s carrot nose.
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Ruler
Where Can I Get Cheap Craft Supplies?
This budget-friendly craft uses supplies you may already have or can purchase cheaply at a dollar store (or local equivalent).
Check out your local dollar stores like Dollar Tree if you’re in the USA. If you’re in the UK, the Poundshop, The Range, Wilko, and Baker Ross are great places to shop for cheap and inexpensive craft supplies. To the rest of the world reading this—we’re sorry we don’t know every cheap store out there, but please do hunt the ones out in your location for crafting bargains!

Pumpkin Snowman Craft
Materials
- 1 Triple Stack of Pumpkins
- Acrylic Craft Paint White
- Gingham Ribbon Black and White
- Craft Felt Orange
- 2 Black Rhinestones
- 3 Black Buttons
Instructions
- Paint the stack of pumpkins with white acrylic craft paint and leave it to dry. Apply second and third coats if necessary. Leave the stalk unpainted.
- Measure a length of black-and-white gingham ribbon to form a scarf. Tie around the snowman's neck and glue in place with a glue gun. Trim a dovetail on the ends of the ribbon to prevent fraying.
- Cut a small triangle of orange felt to create a carrot nose and glue in the middle center of the top pumpkin.
- Attach two rhinestones above the nose to create the snowman's eyes. Use a glue gun if they are not self-adhesive.
- Glue 3 black [assorted size] buttons in a vertical line on the middle pumpkin.
- When completely dry, display where desired!
Notes
Handy Tips & More Ideas
- Paint Thoroughly: Apply at least three coats of white paint to fully cover any existing pumpkin colors or designs.
- Group Prep: If you are hosting a group for this project, use white pumpkin stacks and pre-cut felt carrots to save time.
- Scarf Colors: Use any color or style of ribbon to create a scarf. If you are inclined, you could knit or crochet a quick scarf for a homely touch!
- Express Yourself: Instead of rhinestones, use Sharpie markers to draw eyes, mouth, and other fun details on your pumpkin snowman.
- Add Some Glitter: For a fun twist, sprinkle silver glitter onto the wet paint to make your snowman shimmer! Alternatively, use Glitter Glue Pens to add details like snowflakes.
- Create Color Variations: If you live in sunnier climes, why not make a sand snowman by painting the pumpkins a sandy color?! You can also match the snowman to your holiday decor with colors like gold, silver, green, or red.
- Save on Supplies: Check clearance sales or thrift stores for plastic pumpkins to avoid extra costs.
- Seal the Paint for Durability: Protect the paint with a clear sealant like Mod Podge.
