Lastly, for the Orange & Yellow 40th Birthday Party the cupcakes!
I stuck with the theme colours of orange and yellow for the cupcake decorations, and, as it would happen, the birthday girl’s favourite cake flavours are carrot and lemon – orange and yellow! Bonus!!
So, the cupcake flavours were the ‘standard’ vanilla and chocolate, along with carrot cake and lemon cake.
The standard vanilla and chocolate cupcakes were decorated with buttercream and orange and yellow sugarpaste/fondant flowers and ’40s’. And sprinkles…I can’t decorate a cupcake and not put on sprinkles!!
I’ve got lots of fun and easy Cupcake Recipes for Parties for you to try out – right-click and open these other recipes in a new tab so that you can read them after this one!
The carrot cake cupcakes were decorated with a cream cheese frosting and I piped carrots using candy melts and placed them on top.
The lemon cupcakes had a lovely tang to them and just cut through with the lemony but slightly sweet buttercream which I piped on top and added ‘giant’ yellow edible pearls.
I also made personalised cupcake wrappers for the cupcakes and displayed them on my cupcake tower/tier. I just love cupcakes – they make me happy!
