Free Printable Winter Olympics Memory Match Game Cards
Our free printable Winter Olympics memory match game is a fabulous resource for parents and educators looking to bring a slice of the Winter Olympic Games into their teaching or family fun times.
We called this game Concentration as kids, but you may have called it The Memory Game or Matching Pairs (or something else entirely!).
As kids, Concentration was one of those card games we would play with a regular deck of cards, but a themed set is much more fun and suitable for kids of all ages!
There are 11 printable sheets, each with 8 pairs of cards. There are additional backing sheets, too.
- 88 pairs of cards depicting different winter sports, athletes, and other Winter Olympics details like gold, silver, and bronze medals.
- 8 Winter Olympic Pairs Cards per page featuring winter sports like bobsleigh, skiing, figure skating, and more. (Due to the graphics’ size, some images will be in landscape orientation rather than portrait.)
- Milano Cortina 2026 cards with designs featuring the mascots Tina & Flo, the Italian flag, and more.
- Optional backing papers are available in the Olympic Rings’ colors: blue, black, red, yellow, and green.
- FREEBIE BONUS! Also included is our Winter Olympics Vocabulary List to learn more about the winter sports and the venues used in the Italian Alps.
The premise of our fun memory game is simple: flip over two cards. If the cards match, you keep them and take another turn; if they don’t, play moves to the next player.
Winter Olympics 2026
The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will see the world’s top winter athletes head to Italy for a celebration of snow and ice sports. The Games will be hosted across a mix of vibrant cities and stunning mountain venues, blending modern urban settings with classic Alpine scenery.

- Events: Over 100 medal events

From alpine skiing and snowboarding to ice hockey, figure skating, curling, and bobsleigh, the Winter Olympics feature an exciting mix of fast-paced and technical sports. DIY Memory Game Cards
- Print the Game: Print as many Winter Olympics memory match games as needed on regular printer paper or cardstock for a sturdier set, using a printer at home/school/office/print shop (online or in-store).
- We have provided the reverse side of the cards, which you can print using the duplex function if your printer supports it.
- You can also print out the front and back of each set of cards and glue them together before cutting them out.
- Alternatively, mount the free template onto colored construction paper or cardstock to create a nice reverse side to the cards. This is optional—you can leave the backs of the cards white if you prefer, but note that if you use thin paper, you may see the images through it.
- Cut the Cards: Each printable page contains 8 pairs of cards, so you must cut them to size with scissors or a paper trimmer.
- First, cut around the whole sheet of cards, then horizontally and vertically down the middle of the thicker black lines to make the cards.
- TIP! To protect each card for longevity, laminate it after cutting. Leave a slight edge around each card when cutting the laminate sheet to prevent them from falling apart.
How To Play Memory (Concentration)
The rules of this game are so simple that everyone, from young children to seniors, can play. It’s a great multi-generational game.
Memory is a great game to play in a small group (2-4 players), in larger groups (up to 8 players), and even as a solo player.
Setting Up the Game
- Shuffle the Cards: You want to mix all the pairs of cards as much as possible!
- Place the Cards: Lay the cards face down in a grid formation on a large, flat surface such as a table or the floor.
- Grid Formation: A grid makes it easier to remember where cards are located. But you could also place them more haphazardly if you prefer!
- For Younger Children: Use just one set of cards with fewer pairs for them to match.
- For Older Kids: Use all 88 pairs for a challenging and fun game.
- For Adults and Seniors: Use any number and card layout you prefer. This is a great way to exercise memory skills that can decline with age.
Game Rules
- The first player flips two cards of their choice, trying to match pictures on the front of the cards. If they match, they keep the pair and try again. If not, the next player takes their turn.
- The game continues until all pairs are matched.
- The person with the most pairs wins!
- BONUS IDEA! Why print out two sets of cards and use them to play a game of Snap!
Benefits of Memory Match Games
- The rules are simple for all ages, from younger children to older children and adults to seniors.
- Not only are the rules simple, but it’s fun to play, whether you’re in 1st grade, middle school, high school, or playing as a family; this game is a blast!
- The game helps develop concentration skills by requiring close attention to card faces and their positions on the table.
- The game is a fun way to develop and nurture memory skills.
- It can support visual discrimination —the ability to perceive differences and similarities, such as differences in size and shape.
- Printable matching games help to develop turn-taking and teach you how to be a gracious winner or loser!
- Depending on the theme, the game can help recognition of colors, letters, words, numbers, and shapes, improving literacy and numeracy.
- Discussing the cards will support language development. This will help students of all ages expand their sports and global culture vocabulary.
