Day 2 of Our First Disney Cruise 2021! Disney Magic At Sea, the latest of my Disney Trip Reports, is here! Today, between brunch at Palo and dinner at Animator’s Palate we wave at some characters and take part in some fun ship activities!

The Index of Our First Disney Cruise 2021! Disney Magic At Sea (UK Staycation) tells you a bit about the planning of this trip, as well as some info about us – me, Michelle; and my husband, Steve. It also, of course, has the full list of days for the trip.

We awoke pretty early this morning surrounded by the North Sea and it felt so weird to not see any land at all!

So far I hadn’t felt any kind of seasickness, but then again, most of the sailing had taken place overnight where Captain Fabian sailed us out of the River Thames from Tilbury and into the North Sea.

This is where we would be spending the duration of our cruise – Disney Magic at Sea – with the Captain chasing the sunshine for us! And he did a grand job considering the time of year!

I wish I could say that I woke up feeling well-rested, but alas I didn’t. Whilst the bed was comfortable, I could not get comfortable on it at all and I tossed and turned all night.

I’m not a very good sleeper at home these days, so on a bed that feels like it’s 6 feet from the floor, that has a softer mattress than I am used to, with lovely soft pillows that are great for lounging on to watch TV, but for me, not so good for sleeping on, all lead to barely any sleep for me.

We had ordered room-service breakfast last night to arrive at 7:30 am, which arrived promptly and laid out on a tray.

The breakfast is continental only, nothing cooked, but it is all included with your cruise fare, but a tip isn’t, so make sure to have some dollars in cash handy to tip your server.

We ordered some cereal (I wish we had that Kellogg’s Low Fat Granola here in the UK it tastes AMAZING!), fruit juice, coffee, tea, fruit, and pastries.

After having breakfast and getting dressed, I ended up falling back to sleep for a few hours. For some reason, I sleep better during the day than I do at night – weird!

Today was a Marvel Morning, with various characters and activities going on around the ship. We didn’t actively pursue this due to sleeping in but we knew we had the opportunity on the second leg of our back-to-back cruise.

We did see Spider-Man and Captain Marvel (from a distance) in the Atrium, and we had a quick selfie with Pluto and Goofy in Buena Vista Theatre.

Because of the pandemic, “meeting” the characters is called “Appear and Wave” rather than “Meet and Greet” – you can still have photos taken with them – at a distance, but you have to take your own photos, the crew will not do it for you. At some character interactions, there are ship photographers who will take photos which you can then purchase.

Characters stand on the stage in the Buena Vista Theatre and you line up down the stairs to get your photo. For wheelchair users the characters will come up to greet you, so nobody misses out!

We took a selfie with Goofy and Pluto – Steve had brought a selfie stick which came in so handy on this cruise! Goofy was cosplaying as Iron Man, and I think Pluto was wearing a neckerchief with the Avengers logo on it – too cute!
