Olympic Rings Wall Paper Fans Decoration
Home » CREATE » Crafts »I’ve been seeing these decorations all over the net whilst reading blogs, and thought it’s about time I gave it a go! I’m not sure what these decorations are called, so I’m just calling them wall paper fans!
Olympic Rings Wall Paper Fans |
I’m sure that there are other ways of making these, but this is how I made them – and once you get going, they are so simple, you’ll wonder why you’ve never made them before (or is that just me?!)
Now, since this was for the Olympics, I stuck with the colours of the rings – blue, black, red, green and yellow – and grabbed some paper in each of these colours. I also used a stapler, floristry wire, double sided tape and to cover the join in the centre of each fan, one of the rings that I shared on my Olympics Cupcake Toppers post. To hang them up, I attached ribbon.
Coloured paper, stapler, floristry wire and ribbon are needed to make wall paper fans |
I made my wall fans with A4 sized paper. Ideally I would have liked to have made larger ones, but alas, couldn’t locate any coloured paper in the size I wanted (A2)…to make each fan you will need two sheets of paper. Fold in a concertina style about 1cm wide.
Fold paper concertina style |
Make sure you make nice firm creases as you fold. Then fold over in half like so…
Fold in half |
Wrap some floristry wire (or thread) to hold in place.
Secure in place with floristry wire/thread |
Bring the two sides up and staple at the back like so…
Staple together |
Now repeat the process with the other sheet of paper, and then staple the two together in a circle shape.
Staple to halves to form a whole |
To cover the messy centre, cover with a decoration. I used some printed out circles.
Decorate the centre |
Turn the fan over, and attach some ribbon by tying a knot around the wire, and then wrapping the wire around the ribbon to make secure. I also staple the ribbon at the back to hold in place a bit better.
Attach ribbon to hang up your wall fans |
Repeat with all the other colours…and done!
