Nappy Babies & New Baby Gift Set

I saw the cutest little idea whilst browsing Pinterest of diaper babies. We call them nappies in the UK, so I took it upon myself to made half a dozen Nappy Babies, and then bundle them up with other new baby goodies to make a gift basket for my sister and brother-in-law who are expecting a baby girl in October. We presented this to her at their Pink Flavoured Baby Shower that I hosted recently for them.

Here’s how my Nappy Babies turned out….how cute are they?!

They are made up of a disposable nappy, a sock for its hat, and some muslin for the blanket – you could use washcloths instead. A couple of googly eyes and instant cyoot!

I then placed the 6 nappy babies that I made into a gift basket that I put together for my sister and brother-in-law as their baby shower gift.

They loved their gift basket! Here’s how I did it :)

I bought a pack of newborn nappies, some pink muslin cloth, patterned baby socks and some stick-on googly eyes.

I started by rolling up 6 nappies (one for each nappy baby) and securing with some cello tape.

I cut the muslin down into smaller squares, and created a triangle shape and begun to fold it around the nappy, about a third of the way up, tucking it in at the back to secure it in place.

To make the little hats, I folded back the socks – one inside out, the other the right side round – just to add a bit of difference to each nappy baby.

I then carefully placed the ‘hat’ onto each one, before sticking on a pair of googly eyes, because googly eyes make everything look cute!

With all the nappy babies made, I turned my attention to putting together my new baby gift set.

I had already bought some clothes for my niece, as well as some bath toys. I also bought some baby lotion, shampoo and bubble bath, which I customised by designing and printing my own labels.

Whilst transferring my own design onto baby vests as decoration, I made an extra one with the following…

With all the goodies to go inside the gift basket to hand, I set about with the assembly job! Starting with some pink crepe paper to bulk out the bottom of the basket.

Using up the rest of the packet of nappies, I placed them around the back of the basket, which helps keep everything else in place too.

The star babygros went in next, followed by the custom baby toiletries.

The cutest little watermelon (or some might argue, strawberry, but they’re wrong!) swimsuit, the jeans and top I also bought, and finally the baby vest I customised.

I slotted in the baby converse(like) booties as well as the bath toys.

In with the nappy babies and my basket was all ready to be gift wrapped with cellophane and a giant organza bow.

I also made a gift tag and attached that with some gift ribbon that I curled up. I love how the gift basket turned out, and as I said earlier in this post, my sister and brother-in-law loved it!
