Mardi Gras Subway Art

It has been simply ages since I made any subway art. I really love this style of poster as they are fairly simple in design, but I think make a real impact!

Using words and colours associated with Mardi Gras this subway art poster is 8″ x 10″ and you can print it off either to hang as a poster, or place into a frame.

I love the colours of Mardi Gras – purple (of course!), green, and yellow, they are so bright and festive, and look great together. The free printable contains words associated with Mardi Gras:

Fat Tuesday; Beads, Beads, Beads; Mardi Gras; New Orleans; King Cake; French Quarters; Doublouns; Laissez les bon temps rouier!; and Bourbon Street.

as well as some complimentary images with a string of beads, a line of doublouns, a trumpet and some musical notes. I just LOVE how it turned out!

Mardi Gras is also known as Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday. It refers to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany (Three Kings Day) and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”, reflecting the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season.Wiki

I have been busy designing a full set of Mardi Gras Party Printables, which will be available to buy in The Shop very soon. I have been wanting to throw a Mardi Gras party for several years now, and I really thought 2018 would be the year. BUT, everything has come at once this week. With back to back birthdays for my brother, sister, and son in February, this week also has Valentine’s Day, and Chinese New Year! I simply couldn’t do it all.

But since Mardi Gras is all about letting the good times roll – laissez les bons temps rouler – I think it makes a great year round theme for birthdays and other celebrations. So I will be throwing a party, just not quite at the official time!

As with all my printables, they come in two paper sizes – A4 for the UK, and 8.5 x 11″ for the USA (and other countries that use these paper sizes as standard).

Download your chosen printable from the list below onto thick paper or thin card. If placing into a frame you may have to cut to fit. It is designed to fit an 8″ x 10″ frame.
