This Free Printable Unicorn Template is a fun activity for all ages! Simply print the template, color and build a unicorn! I’ve added an extra step to my popular “build-a” series and have made Unity the Unicorn available to color – saving on ink if you are finding yourself printing things a lot more than usual. Have fun!

My build an animal series started with Rudy the Rooster and many other animals (and characters) have followed since! You will find all of my “Build-A-Character” printables at the end of the post.

The free printable paper craft is really fun – not just for kids, but for adults too! I love constructing the buildable characters when I have to photograph them for my blog! Sadly, my printer is out of ink, but I will update this post with photos of the printed unicorn when I can.

And the ink issue is one of the reasons why I turned this buildable printable into one that you can color in – saving on ink – especially if you are struggling to source colored ink for your printer.

I introduced [full-color] Unity the Unicorn a little while ago, and going forward I plan to make any buildable characters in both full-color, and black and white. In time I may turn my older character into ones you can color too.

If you are a regular on my blog you’ll notice that my characters have a cute chubby style, and if they are animals they are anthropomorphic, which basically means that they have human traits – like standing on two legs instead of four.

I’ve created two sizes for Unity the Unicorn: Regular size, which is what you see at the top of the page, with all of the pieces (usually on) one sheet of paper, however, I had to spread the unicorn pieces over two sheets; and Large size with the pieces spread over several sheets.

The printables are available in two paper sizes – A4 and US Letter (8.5″ x 11″)

The regular size printable is for children that are more skilled at cutting. The large size should be a lot easier for younger children. Or you could cut them out for them. Of course, you know your children, so will know what suits them best!

Color the pieces of the unicorn buildable with pencils, marker pens, or crayons.

  • I love Crayola Super Tips – they come in boxes of various amounts – I’ve got the 100 count box as you can never have too many colors!
  • I don’t think you can go wrong with classic Crayolas
  • If you prefer, use colored pencils or even scented pencils which will no doubt bring Unity the Unicorn alive with smells!

You could stick pieces together with a glue stick, or sticky tape.

You could mount it onto a larger piece of paper and use other craft materials to embellish it – furry material, glitter, sequins, buttons, tissue paper, for example.

You could use a laminator and laminate the pieces and use them over and over again.

Most of all, just have fun with this printable!

Download your chosen printable from the list further down the page (they’re surrounded by a purple box), and print onto thick paper or thin card. Color, cut the pieces out, then build a unicorn!

Included in this printable paper unicorn craft are the following pieces:

  • Head/Body with eyes and rosy cheeks
  • Muzzle with nostrils and mouth
  • Arms
  • Feet
  • Horn
  • Mane pieces x 2 (top of head)
  • Mane pieces x 4 (back of head)
  • Tail pieces x 3
