A Night of Hope

I’m sure that many of us will be having fun this weekend with Halloween celebrations – a party, trick or treating, or just watching scary movies from under the blankets…a chance for children and adults to have fun being scared, without a care in the world. For the children of Syria, there is no fun in being scared; with a civil war in its fourth year, the horrors and scary moments are very real for those children.

I wanted to tell you about the World Vision campaign, A Night of Hope. World Vision want to show the children of Syria that the world hasn’t forgotten about them, and you can help – by donating just £5 by texting HEART to 70060. (updated for 2015) World Vision will also be sharing a mosaic of lit pumpkins, carved with hearts, to show the refugee Syrian children that there is hope and that people haven’t forgotten them.

I’ve created a heart pattern to download and use to carve a pumpkin of hope, or you could use one of the patterns on the World Vision website.

When you’ve carved your pumpkin, don’t forget to share it on the A Night of Hope gallery, with your message to the children of Syria.

But most importantly, please do try to donate £5 by texting HEART to 70060. (updated for 2015)

From the World Vision website: This is a charity donation service for World Vision. Texts cost £5 plus your standard network rate message. World Vision will receive 100% of your donation. If you have a question about your payment call 0203 282 7863. If you would prefer we didn’t contact you again in future, text NOCOMMS WORLD VISION to 70060. Charity no England and Wales (no 285908).
