Day 21 of Crafty October…Tin Can Luminaries!

~Tin Can Luminaries {Crafty October} at The Purple Pumpkin Blog~

I didn’t do too intricate a pattern, since, to be honest, I was in a rush, but wanted to get my craft done for day 21! I’ve got some more empty cans, waiting to be turned into luminaries!

So, to make your own luminaries, you will need empty, clean tin cans. Fill them with water and put in the freezer. The ice inside will help prevent the can from denting when you hammer the holes into it!

Hubby kindly obliged to hammer holes into the cans – I drew out the pattern for him, and using a nail, he gently tapped a hole through the can into the ice. Not much force was needed, just a tap or two to pierce a hole into the tin.

Then, leave the cans in the sink so that the ice can defrost – or if you’re impatient like me, run hot water into the can to melt it!

Pop a tea-light inside each can and light them…very effective! I can’t wait to make more :)
