Free Printable Cinco de Mayo Bingo
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s surprising victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Although it’s a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, it has become a fun holiday across the United States with festivities that honor Mexican culture and heritage.
What better way to add fun to your Cinco de Mayo celebrations than a themed bingo game? It’s a great way to engage kids of all ages and adults alike in a fun activity filled with excitement and learning.
Our bright, festive cards contain 60 different images related to Mexico and Cinco de Mayo, from food and drinks like Tacos, Salsa, tamales, Elote, and Margaritas to cultural items like sombreros, serapes, Mariachi musicians, and piñatas!
Included in the Bingo Printable
The printable PDF file contains everything you need for 2 to 12 players:
- 12 large Cinco de Mayo bingo cards – full size, 1 card per page
- 12 small Cinco de Mayo bingo Cards – half size, 2 cards per page
- 2 sets of bingo tokens (2 different designs, full size and half size)
- The bingo cards and tokens are the same colorful pictures, just different sizes.
- 1 set of small bingo calling cards (12 per page)
- 1 set of large bingo calling cards (4 per page)
- The two sets of calling cards also have a text description of each image.
With our bonus digital bingo sheets, you can play virtual bingo over Zoom or House Party with people outside your household.
This is a great way to play a fun game of bingo from afar. To save printer ink, you can play on your phone or tablet and use the edit function to mark off the cards.
For those looking to host a larger game, we offer an expanded set of 36 bingo cards in the Purple Pumpkin Printables Shop. This allows for more players and even more fun!
How To Set Up The Bingo Game
- Download the free printable file to your device (downloads are further down the page, surrounded by a purple box).
- Print the size of the bingo boards you require. If printing the half-page cards, cut the page in half so each player has one.
- Print and cut each bingo calling sheet along the lines, fold them in half and in half again, and place them into a bowl.
- Print and cut the bingo tokens if you are using them—each player needs 25
- Alternatively, if you don’t want to print out the tokens, you can use dot markers or bingo markers (also called bingo daubers) to mark off each image as it is called.
Tips for Best Results
- For the best experience, print the entire bingo set on white, good-quality, or cardstock paper.
- Laminating the boards is a great way to make them durable and compatible with dry-erase markers so you can use them year after year.
- If you laminate the calling cards, shuffle them, and draw them like playing cards.
How to Play Picture Bingo:
If you don’t know how to play bingo, here is a quick rundown.
- Assign someone to be the bingo caller.
- All players receive their own bingo cards, a set of tokens (if using them), or a bingo marker pen.
- The unique cards have a FREE SPACE in the center. Each player can mark this off at the start of the game.
- Decide the winning straight line(s): horizontal lines, vertical lines, two lines, or diagonal lines. Other winning combos are four corners or filling the board entirely for a Full House.
- The bingo caller pulls out one of the calling cards and calls it out to the players.
- You can hold up the cards to show players the image they need to mark on their cards.
- We have included large cards that are ideal for classroom use or in a retirement community setting.
- The players then cover that picture on their bingo cards.
- The winner is the first lucky player to complete the winning line(s) and shouts BINGO!
- For added fun, why not have prizes for the winners? Check online for Cinco de Mayo party favors like keychains, Mexican candy, or maracas!
How To Play Over Zoom or House Party
- We’ve made digital versions of our printable bingo cards, so you can play online with friends and family via services like Zoom or House Party.
- Send each player a different digital bingo card that they can save to their phone or tablet and use to play this fun game.
- Play the game as usual, calling out the bingo images and players marking off their digital cards with the edit/markup feature available on most phones and tablets.
- Alternatively, they can print out their own bingo cards and play traditionally.
- You can download the Single Cards in the download box below. Please note that the cards are graphic files that can be resized and printed to fit your paper size.
- We have made each bingo card available as a single page so that all players can receive a different one. These single files are zipped up in a ZIP file, which you can unzip using Winzip – usually found on most computers or using WinRAR, the program we use.
