I have been wanting to set up a dessert buffet for a long time. I just love how they look and I continually drool over images on Pinterest and other blogs! Our Halloween/Guy Fawkes party this year was an ideal time to finally get one set up, and with the help of Party Packs who supplied me with some of the items I will be showing you how I turned my want turned into reality!

As a reader of The Purple Pumpkin Blog, you no doubt know about our recent visit to Orlando where I stocked up on lots of Halloween treats! Whilst I know I over-bought stuff (I’m still giving away chocolate and sweets to anyone that will take them ^_^ ) it was fab to have such a bounty of goodies to put out on my Halloween Dessert + Candy Buffet.

Party Packs is a fab party supply resource online which I’ve bought from many times over the years – one such party was my At The Hop, 50s themed 35th birthday party! They have a huge selection of items for nearly every kind of party and celebration you can think of, and I was able to pick several items to use for my Halloween celebration this year.

Since I already have lots (and lots!) of Halloween decorations, I focused on items that I could use to create my dessert buffet which included paper cups, sweets, paper hats (to be used as cones to hold sweets) and popcorn boxes. Nevermind my growing cache of Halloween decs, I can never pass up a cute pumpkin, so I ordered some blinking pumpkins for decoration. I also got a black tablecloth and skirt, a test tube rack, paper bags and paper straws.

Let me now guide you through how I set up my Halloween Dessert + Candy Buffet and want goodies went on it!

Since we are still unpacking boxes from our move, a lot of my Halloween stuff was (is!) in boxes, buried deep at the back of the shed – much to my dismay as I knew I had several things I could also use for my dessert table. One of those things was a spiderweb tablecloth, which, right at the last minute hubs found and hung it on the wall behind the table. Sadly, (and very annoyingly!) it wasn’t quite big enough, so you will have to excuse the plain bits of wall that you can see in my pics.

First off I wanted to create some height, so used boxes underneath the tablecloth to do so. The tableskirt, which is out of sight, was used to hide ugly cupboards in the rest of the kitchen where the savoury food was! The tableskirt is looooong and there was more than enough to cover the whole side of the kitchen.

On the raised parts of my dessert table was a metal cupcake holder that I have had for years and held my Pumpkin Pecan Muffins which I topped off with my Halloween Cupcake Toppers that I shared on day 10 of Crafty October. On the opposite side was a board full of Candy Corn Rice Krispie Treats. In the middle, for an edible decoration, I filled a vase with Halloween Peeps -an American marshmallow product. I think it looked really cute! In front of the vase I placed my Key Lime Crunch Cream Halloween Truffles.

Now for down at the front. I made some more of my Halloween Gingerbread Fiends and of course, a Pumpkin Pie. I filled the paper cups from Party Packs with lots of different sweets. I had bought some tiny plastic scoops in the USA and they were just the right size for scooping up sweets into the paper hats – which I removed the elastic from and used as sweety cones instead!

I finished everything off by placing around other American treats I had bought, including giant popcorn balls, muddy buddies, candied pumpkins, candy corn Oreos and some really gross jelly bugs in slime jars! Nearly forgot…I had orange Halloween Kit Kats and Reeses Peanut Butter Pumpkins which went inside the popcorn boxes – they fit just right. Oh, and I musn’t forget the blinking pumpkin lanterns, which my baby niece was transfixed with!

I mentioned that I had ordered a test tube rack. I had a pack of test tubes already and was going to use those to hold candy corn M&Ms, but my tubes were too wide for the rack *sobs* I was gutted! So instead I popped in some Mickey Mouse shaped Halloween lollipops in as I didn’t want the rack not to be used. And as for the straws…well, I was going to use them as the sticks for some Halloween cake pops, but I just ran out of time to make them! Instead, they went back to their intended use – to slurp up my Pumpkin Juice drink.

I always do waaaay too much food at parties, especially at Halloween, so I provided the orange and black paper bags to my guests to take stuff home in – they were a great size and held a lot of stuff!

I have to say I’m so pleased with how my first dessert and candy buffet turned out, and whilst I know the photos are a bit on the flashy side (I didn’t take photos till the evening and it was unavoidable!) you can see how I set things up and I hope that this post will give you ideas for next Halloween!

Thanks again to PartyPacks.co.uk who provided me with the various party supplies to make this Halloween Dessert + Candy Buffet possible!
