Welcome to Day 12 of Crafty October – a month of Halloween ideas at The Purple Pumpkin Blog! Don’t forget to check out last year’s ideas if you need more inspiration.

Remember those Choc Dip pots you used to buy as a kid? Do they even still make them? Well, I randomly thought about them the other day and how they were just a pot of chocolate spread with breadsticks. It got me thinking – I can do that with breadsticks, melted chocolate and sprinkles! And so, I have made a simple snack that you could serve at a Halloween party – Halloween Sprinkle Choc Dippers!

Like I said, they’re so easy to make, and a cute little snack to serve at a Halloween party, all you’re going to need is:

  • mini plain breadsticks or pretzel rods
  • milk, white or dark chocolate
  • Halloween sprinkles

Melt the chocolate either in a bowl in the microwave – I tend to do 30 second bursts so as not to burn it. Or, melt it in a bowl over a pan of simmering water on the stove.

When the chocolate has melted, dip the breadsticks into the chocolate to cover approximately two thirds. Tap off the excess and then, over a clean bowl, sprinkle over your Halloween sprinkles until covered.

Repeat this process using different coloured chocolate and sprinkles until you have the quantity you need. Place them in the fridge to set.

You could also use pretzel rods (if you can find them, I have trouble sourcing the ones I want in the UK!) to make these. I do love the sweet/salty combo!

I am hosting a month long Halloween Link Party to celebrate Crafty October and would love for you to share your Halloween ideas – crafts, recipes, costumes, parties…anything goes, as long as it is family friendly! It’s my favourite time of year, (as you may well know!) and I can’t wait to see what you link up!
