To create the wooden sign, line up seven craft sticks on your work surface. Attach a craft stick to the top and bottom with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Basecoat the sign with watered-down dark brown paint. Paint quickly and then remove the excess paint with a paper towel. This will give the craft sticks a stained appearance.
Measure and cut a 12″/30cm length of natural jute twine with scissors. Flip the sign over and attach the ends of the twine to the top right and left-hand sides with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Download, print, and cut out the heart template. Trace the heart onto a scrap of corrugated cardboard with a pencil or marker, then carefully cut out the heart with scissors.
Tie the ends of the yarn together in a knot and attach it to the center of the cardboard heart with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Start wrapping both strands of yarn around the cardboard heart in a random fashion. Continue wrapping and securing every fifth or sixth wrap with a small dot of glue. Keep on wrapping the yarn around the heart in a haphazard manner until you can no longer see any cardboard. Tie the two ends of the yarn together in a knot and attach it to the back of the cardboard heart with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Use the glue gun and glue sticks to attach the yarn-wrapped heart to the craft stick sign. Press down firmly in the center of the heart to make sure that adheres well.
Cut a length of ribbon and tie it into a bow. Cut a notch from the ends of the ribbon tails to prevent fraying. Attach to the top left of the sign with a glue gun and glue sticks. Ensure all glue has dried before hanging your yarn-wrapped heart sign where desired!
