- 1¼ cup all-purpose flour (plain flour)
- ½ cup rolled oats
- ¾ tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda (bicarbonate of soda)
- ¾ cup Guinness
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- 3 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1½ Tbsp molasses or honey
- 1 Tbsp rolled oats to sprinkle on top
Preheat the oven to 400°F/200°C/Gas 6. Line a rimmed baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper for easy cleanup.
In a large bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, salt, and baking soda.
Whisk together the wet ingredients—beer, buttermilk, oil, and molasses—in a separate large measuring cup/jug or bowl.
Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well. The mixture will be wet and sticky.
Using a large spoon, dollop 6 semi-round balls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Use the spoon to help shape them into a circular shape.
Top the rolls with oats and transfer into the oven to bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown,
Let the rolls cool for at least 15 minutes at room temperature. Serve and enjoy!
