Ingredients

  • 1 store-bought angel food cake sliced into 1-inch/2.5cm thick slices
  • ¾ cup Tequila
  • 1 lime juiced
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter

For Cinnamon Sugar

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp ground cinnamon

Dipping Sauce

Instructions

  • Place a sauté pan over medium-high heat and add the butter.
  • Stir the tequila and juice of one lime together in a bowl. Quickly and lightly dip slices of cake into the mixture (you don't want the cake to absorb too much alcohol).
  • Place the dipped cake slices in the heated butter - do not overcrowd the pan; cook for about 1 minute on each side until golden. Transfer the cooked cake slices to drain on some paper kitchen towels to cool slightly. Continue to dip and cook the cake in batches.
  • Place the sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl and stir to combine.
  • Add the cooled tequila cake bites to the cinnamon sugar and lightly toss until fully coated.
  • Mix the sour cream, powdered sugar, lime zest, and juice in a bowl until combined to make the dipping sauce.
  • Arrange the Tequila Cake Bites in a serving dish and garnish with lime wedges. Serve with lime dipping sauce, and enjoy!
