These American Flag Cupcakes are super simple to make - don't celebrate 4th of July without them!

Ingredients

  • Vanilla Cake Mix most mixes call for oil, eggs and water
  • Vanilla Frosting
  • Red and Blue M&Ms

Equipment

  • Piping Bag
  • Round decorating tip
  • Cupcake liners
  • Cupcake baking pan

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to recommended temperature on the cake mix box.
  • Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  • Mix the cake mix according to package instructions - most mixes call for oil, eggs and water.
  • Fill your cupcake liners about 3/4 way with your cupcake batter and bake for 15 minutes - or as advised n package. The cupcakes should be risen and golden, and an inserted skewer should come out clean.
  • Transfer cupcakes to a wiring cooling rack to cool for about an hour.
  • When cupcakes are completely cooled, place a round tip in a piping bag and fill with vanilla frosting.
  • Apply an even layer of frosting on each cupcake.
  • Place 6 blue M&M's in the left corner of your cupcake in a triangle shape, and use the red M&M's to make stripes on the side and under the blue M&M's.
  • Eat and enjoy!

Notes

If you don't have a piping bag, you can make your own with a plastic food bag, and cut off one corner for the piping tip; or you could just spread the frosting onto the cupcakes with a knife.
