Materials

  • White Cardstock
  • Green Buffalo Check Bandana/Fabric
  • Wooden Shamrocks optional, used as a template to trace around*
  • Roll of Burlap
  • Twine
  • Shamrock Ribbon
  • Wooden Beads**
  • Green Felt
  • Black Felt
  • Yellow Felt
  • Orange Felt

TOOLS

Instructions

  • Cut cardstock into a triangle that fits the width of the burlap. To get your triangle perfectly symmetrical, fold the cardstock in half before cutting. Or print out a triangle shape.

    Gnome Banner Triangle Template
  • Trace the triangle onto the burlap 5-7 times or as many as you'd like for your banner, and cut out.

    Cut Burlap Triangles
  • Cut a length of twine for your banner. Set your burlap triangles and space them apart to your preference and measure your twine accordingly.
  • Hot glue the twine under the back of the burlap triangles, folding over the top edge to secure the twine.

    Gluing Twine in Place
  • Sketch and cut out a round-ish beard on orange felt, small triangles for the gnome hat on the green felt, a thin black felt rectangle, and a small yellow felt square for the hat.

    Cutting Gnome Pieces from Felt
  • Place felt pieces on the banner and glue them into place. Hot glue the smallest wooden bead just under the hat and centered on the beard. Repeat for every other burlap banner piece.

    Gluing Gnome Pieces onto Burlap
  • Trace a wooden shamrock onto the green buffalo check fabric. Center it on the burlap banner and hot glue carefully as it is a thin material and very hot. Repeat for every other burlap banner piece.

    Gluing Shamrock Piece to Burlap
  • Glue a piece of the shamrock ribbon to the top edge of each burlap banner piece.

  • Hang where desired! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Handy Tips & More Ideas

*Print a shamrock shape onto cardstock to use as a template instead.
**You could use small pompoms to make the nose instead of wooden beads.
