Make the raspberry simple ¾syrup by placing the water, sugar, and raspberries in a small pot over medium heat. When it comes to a boil, turn heat to low and simmer for 10 mins. Strain through a sieve over a bowl, pushing through to extract all the flavor. Set aside to cool completely.
To make the cocktail, place water, raspberry simple syrup, lime juice, and vodka in a shaker filled with ice.
Shake vigorously to combine.
Strain over a large glass filled ice.
Garnish with lime slices and raspberries (optional).
You can use sparkling water, club soda, seltzer, or even tonic water in place of still water - just remember to stir NOT shake!

To make a big batch use:
1 part vodka
¾ part lime juice
2 parts raspberry simple syrup
still or sparkling water, club soda, or seltzer to top up
As long as you use the same size measure for 1 part, the ratios will be correct.
