Holiday Spice Cookies

Holiday Spice Cookies are little bites of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and cloves rolled in powdered sugar and are a must make for the season!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg
  • cup molasses black treacle
  • 2 cup all-purpose flour plain flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • ½ tsp ground allspice
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 cup powdered sugar icing sugar

Instructions

  • Cream the butter and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the eggs and molasses and mix to combine.


  • In a separate large bowl, sift or whisk to blend the flour, baking soda, and spices.

  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix on low speed until thoroughly combined.
  • Transfer dough to the refrigerator and chill for one hour.
  • When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5 and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  • Remove dough from the fridge and form balls with a 1-inch scoop. Roll the dough in your hands to form a ball and set it on the prepared cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.


  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cookies are nicely browned and cooked through. Remove from the oven and let cookies cool to the touch.
  • Pour powdered sugar onto a plate and roll the cookies to cover. Alternatively, working in batches, transfer cooled cookies to a Ziploc bag filled with powdered sugar. Seal tightly and gently turn until cookies are thoroughly coated.

  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container until ready to serve. Enjoy!
