Materials

  • Felt Craft Sheets - Bright Green Black, Silver (approx 9"/22cm wide)
  • 1 4"/10cm Wooden Embroidery Hoop
  • 2 Silver Pipe Cleaners/Chenille Stems
  • 2 Large Googly Eyes

Instructions

  • Remove the label from the embroidery hoop. Loosen the screw at the top of the hoop and separate the inside hoop from the outside hoop. Use the hoop with the screw in another project.

    Separating Embroidery Hoops
  • Cut the green and black felt into approximately 9"/22cm long strips, some thin and some thick. For a 4"/10cm hoop you will need around 50 strips of green and 25 strips of black.

    Cutting Strips of Felt
  • Using the 9, 12, and 3 o'clock positions, start tying the strips of black felt around the embroidery hoop in double knots. Push the strips together to bunch them together to create Frankenstein's hair.

  • Then using the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, tie the green felt strip around the hoop with double knots, pushing together as before. The more felt scrap strips tied onto the hoop the fluffier the wreath will be.

  • Flip the hoop to the back. Take one black scrap strip and attach it horizontally across the hoop with a glue gun and glue sticks. Flip to the front and glue two wiggle eyes to the front of that black scrap strip. Cut a small, skinny rectangle from black felt and glue it to the top of the wiggle eyes as Frankenstein’s eyebrow.

    Attaching Eyes to Wreath
  • First Eye Attached
  • Wrap two silver tinsel chenille stems around a pencil then slide off to reveal two coils. Cut two small rectangles of silver felt and attach one to the end of both coils to create Frankenstein’s bolts. Flip the hoop over and attach it to the bottom right and left with a glue gun and glue sticks.

    Adding Pipe Cleaner 'Bolts'
  • Position one of the green felt scraps flat at the side near the hairline. Draw a scar on that green felt scrap with a permanent black marker.

    Adding Scar with Marker Pen
  • Create a hanging loop with ribbon or twine if desired, then hang (or place) where desired. Happy Halloween!
