I used to open a present on Christmas Eve when I was young and have started a similar tradition in our house except that my girls get ti open one present between them that is a ‘family’ present

I know the very smell you mean when the tree and ornaments are brought from the loft! I totally forgot about stir it up Sunday. I was planning on making a cake but forgot to buy all the stuff so It’ll have to be next weekend now. I might even cheat and just buy one!

We used to all sit around the open fire as kids and as the eldest I would always have to open a present first, then my sister, then my two brothers and we would go round and round until everything had been opened x

When I was a child there was only one colour television in the house and after Christmas dinner it would be pushed into the posh front room where only the Queen was normally allowed to step into. Then we would be able to open our presents. We still wait until after dinner for present opening. We’re a very patient family!

Oh, I LOVED reading about your traditions! I wish I’d grown up in a pub too (especially the hunting the cracker prizes, that would have been heaven for me as a little one!). Congrats on your first pudding – it’s our first time this year, we’ve always had my nan’s before! Looking forward to hearing how it tastes :)
