World Photo Day | 20 Of My Favourite Photographs
Home » Photography »If you’ve been following my blog from the very start, you will know that I love photography. As well as pretty much every single photo on my website being taken by myself, I also shared my Project 365 – taking a photo a day – for 5 years : 2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014 | 2015. I decided to take a break in 2016, but I couldn’t give up on a photography project completely, so I’ve decided to partake in Project 52 – a photo a week for one year.
For two years I put together ideas and tips, which you can see below.

Today, according to Twitter, is World Photo Day, and I can’t let that pass me by can I?
An international event held on August 19th that embraces a passion for photography and it’s ability to inspire communities. – World Photo Day
I thought I would share 20 of my favourite photographs that I have taken over the years. It’s a big ask, because I already have so many in my mind that are my favourites! So here they are, in no particular order. For me, photographs hold memories, and that is why I take so many. I always aim to be the best photographer I can be, but my favourites are not always the best that I’ve taken in terms of technical stuff – lighting, composition, sharpness etc.,. I’ve always said that the best camera is the one in your hand, and as I look through years of photos, I realise that, that really is true.
It is Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk (Church of Our Lady)
It’s also the image I use during May for Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.
Heavily edited, but I love that it looks like a painting!
I love that I captured Epcot’s Spaceship Earth reflecting in his sunglasses.
I love the song, I love the singer, I love this photo.
I had the absolute honour of being at the birth of my 1st born niece. She is under 30 minutes old here.
It was one of the first photos I took with my new Canon camera.
I look at this photo, and I instantly feel like I’m on holiday!

What stunning pictures and what a lovely idea to celebrate them. You’ve really made me focus in and want to take more close ups, I am always trying to capture everything in one photo, but your close ups say it all!

Thank you. I love a close up photo – I’d say a high percentage of mine are filling the frame with a close up shot. I know what you mean about wanting to capture everything in one photo – I do that when I can, but often zone into one area – must be how my mind works!
