By now we had reached all the new area that had been covered by hoardings the last time we came to Orlando. It was amazing to see everything finally finished, but I do feel like it’s made Disney Springs into an expensive shopping mall. They are opening up a bunch of new restaurants in this area, so hopefully that will balance things out.

Disney Springs - The Edison
It ended up opening at the start of 2018!!

The only shop I needed to go into in the Town Center was Sephora! I am a make-up fiend, and Sephora is like make-up Mecca! I spent a good hour or so just browsing, swatching colours and deciding what to spend my cash on! I did a huge make up haul video, which included Sephora. Jump to 1928s to see just the Sephora stuff!

Our final stop was Amorette’s Patisserie, as we wanted to see the Disney dome cakes that had been doing the rounds online (they’re $65 each!!) and of course maybe buy a cake or two for ourselves! I cannot remember exactly what we bought, but thanks to All-Ears and the menu, I’m going to make educated guesses!

The shop itself is quite small – I can’t remember if there are tables inside… I think there are. There are definitely tables outside, because that is where we sat! The patisserie were stunning and some looked almost too good to eat!

Eclair – Pistachio (also available: lemon meringue, raspberry, or caramel coffee) – $6.00

As it got to late afternoon the sky began to look a bit suspect and we decided to make a move before the rain started to fall. We had to get all the way over to the other side of Disney Springs and didn’t want to be caught out in it.

For dinner we decided to go to our favourite offsite restaurant – Bahama Breeze. While in there the mother of all storms happened outside – we were so glad to not have been caught up in that! We dined at the Bahama Breeze on W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, and absolutely love it here.

Starters…

Us: Island Hopper Combo – A combination of Island favorites. Jamaican chicken wings, crispy coconut shrimp, onion rings and conch fritters. Served with citrus-mustard, jerk BBQ sauce and roasted pineapple chutney. ($19.99)

We decided to share this platter of Bahama Breeze favourites – the coconut shrimp are one of my personal faves! And the Jamaican chicken wings are so good.

Main Course…

Me: Lobster & Shrimp Linguine – Tender shrimp and lobster tossed with fresh mushrooms in a lobster brandy cream sauce. ($20.99) + House Salad – Fresh greens, Roma tomatoes, cucumber ribbons and pumpkin seeds, drizzled with Island vinaigrette. ($2.99)

Him: Shrimp & Mahi Bowl with Lemongrass Sauce – Sautéed Mahi Mahi, shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, bok choy, sugar snap peas, edamame and bell peppers in a zesty coconut lemongrass sauce served over white rice. ($14.99)

We usually stick to the same dishes when we got to Bahama Breeze (they’re favourites after all!) and since we can only have them when we go to Orlando, I always order them! However, we both had something completely different from the menu this time around. My pasta dish was amazing, – the portion was huge and I remember taking the rest to-go. Steve enjoyed his bowl of seafood and veggies.

We were too full for dessert so passed our favourites by!

Not quite as short a day as I thought when I first started writing this – I think tomorrow will be a short one, judging by the title I gave to the day! I am aiming to get the rest of this trip report done as quickly as possible. I do still have photos to edit – I know, I know… But for our 2017 I certainly didn’t take as many photos, and we were back to our usual 2 week break, rather than this indulgent, month long trip in 2016!
