Buzz Lightyear Mocktail

It’s hard to believe that the very first movie in Disney·Pixar Toy Story franchise was released in 1995! I remember being in awe at the animation and falling in love with Woody, Buzz, and their gang of friends. It was the first-ever feature-length film to be completely computer-animated, as well as Pixar’s first feature film

The toys have come a long way since 1995, meeting new friends, but running into a few foes too! I have laughed, and cried watching the Toy Story movies, and have great memories of watching them with my son when he was a little boy.

With the release of Toy Story 4 in 2019, I wanted to share this awesome Buzz Lightyear Mocktail with you! Have you seen Toy Story 4 yet?

Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang embark on a road trip with Bonnie and a new toy named Forky. The adventurous journey turns into an unexpected reunion as Woody’s slight detour leads him to his long-lost friend Bo Peep. As Woody and Bo discuss the old days, they soon start to realize that they’re worlds apart when it comes to what they want from life as a toy.

Buzz Lightyear Mocktail Ingredients

This green Buzz Lightyear drink is made with just three ingredients – Kool-Aid, pineapple juice, and lemon-lime soda.

You need to use a blue Kool-Aid so that it turns green with the yellow of the pineapple juice.

There are two blue flavors to my knowledge – Mixed Berry, and Blue Raspberry. Mixed Berry Kool-Aid is used in this mocktail for kids, but the Blue Raspberry one will work too!

For my UK readers: You can get both flavours on Amazon: Mixed Berry Kool-Aid | Blue Raspberry Kool-Aid

I have to admit I am a bit of a Kool-Aid addict. There are sugar-free varieties (not all of the flavours, unfortunately) that I stock up on when I go on hols. I buy the little squeezy bottles that are perfect for keeping in my handbag to add flavour to a bottle of water. The little individual sachets are great too, so I also buy a ton of them too! I had my first glass of Kool-Aid when I was about 8 years old. One of my best friends in primary school had an American mom, and we would always drink glasses of it around her house!

How Do I Make A Buzz Lightyear Mocktail?

I tend to give my mocktail, and cocktail recipes in “part” measurements, rather than ounces or milliliters because I find it easier for scaling the drink up. And, it means I can just use the same container – be it a cup, glass, or jug – for each part and the ratios will be correct.

Or of course, you can use a cocktail jigger if making a single drink. Essentially, one part = 2 ounces = 50ml = the larger end of most jiggers! If you feel confused – don’t be – just use the same container for each liquid ingredient and you will never be wrong!

It is so easy to make this Buzz Lightyear mocktail- whether you want to make just one glass, or if you want to make a larger batch for a party.

Since Kool-Aid comes in powder form, you need to make that up first. I suggest making it with the lemon-lime soda that is also included in this kid’s cocktail.

Then, simply stir the Kool-Aid and pineapple juice together in a glass filled with crushed ice, then top off with lemon-lime soda (Sprite, for example, or a store’s own brand).

Garnish the Toy Story-themed mocktail with a lemon slice, maraschino cherry, and some green and yellow Skittles. Add a straw, and enjoy!

You could even turn this into a Green Alien mocktail by floating 3 candy eyeballs on the top!

Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 part blue Kool-Aid - Mixed Berry, or Blue Raspberry
  • 2 parts pineapple juice
  • 2 parts lemon-lime soda
  • Crushed ice
  • Lemon slice (garnish, optional)
  • Maraschino cherries (garnish, optional)
  • Green & yellow Skittles (garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour Kool-Aid and pineapple juice into a glass filled with crushed ice and stir.
  2. Top with lemon-lime soda.
  3. Garnish with lemon, a maraschino cherry, and Skittles (all optional).

Notes

As long as you use the same measure for one part, the drink will turn out perfectly, no matter how much you scale it up. For those needing exact measures, for one drink, 1 part = 2 ounces or 50 ml.
